Authentic and feel-good!

We stayed at Villa Elene for a short week in late July, 2017. We wanted a touch of Italy more than what a holiday-resort often provide, and we received plentiful from Villa Elena.
The building is historical, loaded with charm (and of course minor impracticalities as in all ancient mansions, but just minor!) and worked perfectly to our wishes.
We occupied a large flat in the main-building, with hallways, bedroom with ceilings well above over five meter!, en suite bathrooms and a pleasant kitchen / dining-room. This worked very well for a family with kids aged 12 and 9, and will probably work for both couples on a holiday and families with older children.
On the premises is a nice swimming-pool, kids-pool and a game-room. Gardens and common-areas has loads of ambience, and we loved sitting in the garden with a glass of wine and enjoy the late tuscany summer-nights.
Important to notice that this is a self-service place; you need to either go out for all meals or prepare them yourself. We made our own breakfast, but enjoyed the local restaurants and cafes for dinner.
Downsides? Not many, and easy to remedy. First; you will need a car. Of course for practical purposes, but also for getting around in Tuscany and see the splendor! Second; there is nothing to purchase of beverages i.e. on the site, so remember to stack up your fridge.
Other than that, we enjoyed Villa Elena enormously, and will very likely return!
Lovely place for a family holiday

I really recommend a visit in May or early June, before the season really begins. The apartment we stayed in was clean and comfortable and the surrounding garden was lovely. The owner was very friendly and helpful. It is not a very private place, as the area is very open, but with children it is perfect. It s nice that you can use the common facilities if you are traveling as a group. Beautiful pool area too.
Nice place but

Because of the exceptional heat the missing aircon was a major issue It was uncomfortable at night especially. The appartment (Type A) is small and offer little privacy. The Villa, the garden and the pool looks nice, however we haven´t used the pool, cause it was always crowd. There is street noise at night. Guardistallo is not the best place to stay, due to lack of good restaurants. You need a car to move around.
Serena is a nice host.

Even though our children get older, the whole family votes for Villa Elena when it comes to summer rezidence. Good service, big apartments, parking area and a clean pool - are things that newer goes out of fashion. Oh- and the weather newer fails, hot & sunny! This year we went to the forest nearby to see the remains of Roman Akvaducts and later on river trekking in River Cecina. The fine town of Guardistallo has all you need!
