The best hotel in town

Quite simply,an amazing experience. We had a great time at the hotel. The manager on duty was very accomodating and understanding. The place had an old world charm and both of us were swept off our feet.We were there for one night. The room was well furnished and the bathroom was clean.Hot water was available. My wife had forgotten a packet. The hotel staff very cordially cordially the packet and were most gracious.Inspite of repeated requests from our side, they refused to accept payment towards the courier charges. We look forward to going back whenever we get a chance. It was all in all a memorable experience. Thanks and keep it up.

This place is on the Shimla highway.
The location is nice if you have a valley facing room..which we did. Nice view.
The cleanliness of the place leaves a lot to be desired.
In our three days stay twice I had to speak to housekeeping about sweeping the corridor outside our room. It had mud from shoes.
The duvet covers did not seem to be fresh.
The sheets are old and stained as are the towels.
The food is passable not great.
There is a shop on the premises catering to small needs.
There is place to park your car just outside the hotel on the main road.
The staff are polite and friendly and helpful.
Decent place for short stay but far from Shimla town

Visited Shimla in Oct 2017 & stayed here for 2 nights enroute to Manali. Quiet roadside location within a ghat section on the Chandigarh - Shimla highway at a place called Kandaghat which is 20 kms (45 minutes drive) before Shimla town. You may stay here only if you have your own transport.
The hotel juts out of a cliff and most of the rooms provide a very good view of the valley. Well laid out rooms with good bathrooms. 24/7 hot water available. Small garden patch and an in-house convenience store complete the place.
Breakfast, lunch, dinner services were decent. Good for families as well as groups (with their own transport) who may want to avoid staying in the overcrowded of Shimla town. Driver's accommodation is available on request.
Two meals at Falcon

Best stop over after a horrible drive to Shimla this weekend. Both times the service was prompt, food was good. Nice chicken sandwiches and lemon tea. Lady serving was courteous and customer focused. More cleanliness required though. They have a buffet in the morning but they made items from the menu despite we refusing the buffet.
A nice little aquarium at the reception area. There is no decent place except Falcon in that area. So, don't forget to take a break at Falcon if you really need to take one !
Perfect short break - Budget Pricing

Had a short stay of 12 hours for a wedding ceremony of a close friend.
Pro's
1) Big rooms and bigger washrooms.
2) Relatively tidy then most budget places.
3) Easy on pocket.
4) Food is good.
5) Management comprises of retired Defense Personnel.
6) Small daily need shop within the premises.
7) If you are not getting any decent accommodation in Shimla due to peak season try this one out. Though its 16 odd K.M from Shimla but if you are having your on own vehicle then nothing like it as you can stay here and visit Shimla. Also people willing to stay overnight for journey ahead its a decent place.
8) Room Service is prompt.
Con's
1) Avoid rooms on highway side as the noise may be a hindrance to your rest.
2) If you check in odd hours you may not find anyone at reception.
3) Keep your Towels in your bag, as towels seems to be old.
I haven't mentioned few standard things as its understood be normally provided in hotel.
This one is true for Himachalis (People of Himachal) 99% people are helpful and truthful in nature and if someone has cheated on you then he may not be a himachali. For this only reason I would love to spend my holidays in Himachal.
Bon Voyage....
