Bed and gourmet breakfast

The place is a very nice bed and breakfast within walking distance from the Haymarket train station. It's on a quiet street but with pubs and supermarkets nearby. You can get to the Prince Street (centre of Edinburgh's tourist and shopping area) in 5-10 minutes by tram.
What makes this place truly memorable is the breakfast made by Derrick every morning (he offers a menu to choose from the previous day). The breakfast surpasses anything you can have in any five-star hotel, not only in taste but also in presentation. My 8-year old son became not satisfied with any other hotel breakfast after staying there. Very different from any typical English or Scottish "full breakfast", this is gourmet breakfast. Try Derrick's special at the end of the menu.
The rooms (we had two rooms for a family) are nice, clean and of medium size (by UK standard). Note that there is no elevator. Derrick is helpful and seemed always in the kitchen when we were there. My children liked the cats.
Delightful place to stay

We only spent a couple of days in Edinburgh and the location was ideal for getting the tram to Edinburgh Castle and the Royal Mile. After busy days of exploring it was a treat to come back to our lovely room and comfortable bed. A breakfast menu was given to us in the evening to make a choice from a good variety of delicious food, all freshly prepared and beautifully presented in a charming dining room. Derek gave us many helpful tips which helped us to make the best use of our time on our short visit.
Quiet and comfortable

Just to reiterate all the other reviews - This is one of the best B&Bs we've stayed in and we've traveled extensively both in the states and in Europe. Derek is great with information, breakfast and conversation. The room was very large and very well appointed. It's a nice walk from the B&B to city center and there are plenty of of restaurants nearby.

Nice and clean room, very friendly owner, amazing breakfast (try the scottish full!), quiet neighbourhood... It was great!
It's close to Haymarket with some really nice pubs, and it takes around 15 mins by walking to the historic city centre.
Exceptional, as always!

This was a return visit to Allburys and it did not disappoint. As before the room was elegantly decorated, generously proportioned and spotless, we were extremely comfortable. What really sets Allburys apart is its wonderful owner and host, Derrick. His superlative breakfast and local knowledge made our stay. We would not consider staying anywhere else in Edinburgh. Thank you again!
