I judge curry houses by the amount of fat that floats above the main dish when being served. The less the better and the Ashiana has hardly any. Enough said. Also the lagers are Cobra, Bangladesh, or Mongoose. A veritable smorgasbord of the correct lagers to drink with a curry.
Could be excellent with a little care!

I feel a bit mean about giving only 3 out of 5 for this hotel. Firstly - the plus points - very efficient and welcoming reception and restaurant staff, extremely convenient A1 location, a truly top class evening meal in the modern and well-appointed restaurant with a pleasingly modestly priced menu and wine list. I do realise that the emphasis is on the amazing Indian restaurant but I do wish the management would put a little more love into the accommodation. We would have happily paid a bit more to enjoy a slightly improved experience with the room. However I must admit that for the extremely competitive rate we paid, we got value for money. Our room was very large and had two double beds but they were very poorly presented - no valances, only two pillows per bed and extremely cheap and nasty looking duvets under duvet covers which were too small for the actual duvets so they stuck out the bottom and gave a very sloppy, unfinished look. The actual bed linen was clean and crisp and the bed was very comfortable so we did have a good nights sleep. The bedroom furniture is rather basic but adequate and there was a tea/coffee tray with biscuits. The en-suite shower room was very large and generally clean but attention needs to be paid to the mould around the shower tray and behind the handbasin. The hand soap dispenser was empty and rather grubby. Also, there was no waste bin in the shower room, nor sanitary disposal bags - this is just asking for people to chuck waste items down the loo and a blockage will no doubt happen! This place is actually great value for money and the food is amazing but the whole package could be outstanding if they upped the game with a few little touches to the accommodation.
Overpriced

The room is spacious but incredibly basic.
There was no bath but the blocked shower drain did mean my feet were in one. Also the shower temperature was fluctuating so much it was an adventure in itself.
It's literally in the middle of nowhere.
The location is absolutely atrocious if you don't have a car, they told me there is public transport but there isn't on a Sunday.
So now I've missed my train..
If it was £30 I would have said overall definitely come again.
But at £55, haggled down from an initial £65, it is absolutely ridiculous, especially with the added £12 taxi fare to the station.
Great Value

Detached chalet type hotel room, very spacious and very clean and tidy. You can not get into your room until after 5.00 pm as the reception is the restaurant. The staff where extremely helpful. There is also no breakfast available, although tea coffee and biscuits are free in your room.
Spacious chalet

It was easy to find straight of off the A1 , it was a 5 min drive to Newark town . Would stay again.
