Once great Hotel- Perhaps a little worn out

The stone floors and grand staircases give the sense that this hotel was once very nice. The grubby walls and loose fixtures suggest that the place was now past its best.
Normally I normally review resorts and hotels which cost 10 to 20 times this price, so maybe this review presents as overly critical- But I can only comment on our experience. We paid AU$45 for a one night stay (this included airport transfers and breakfast)- this by itself makes this place amazing, unbelievably priced!

We landed in Bali quite late at night, so before heading off to our 1st resort out of town- we decided to stay the night in Kuta. This hotel was close to the airport and offered a free transfer, was cheap and looked good in photos- easy choice.

Our plane landed, we picked up or luggage and waited in the massive crowd of drivers looking for our pickup... nothing... not a great start to our Bali holiday. We probably paid over the odds for a man to drive us to the hotel, who claimed they had sent their driver. The service was alright, speak to the right staff and the English was quite good. Our room was ‘upgraded’ because of the mix up. The foyer and entrance looks quite grand, and we thought we had hit gold. When we arrived at our room we discovered otherwise.

The loose fixtures and quick clean up job was the least of our worries. The bathroom was filthy, I’m unsure if it was just brown from years of use or general poor hygiene. We decided to skip a shower that night. The bed linen was also riddled with stains- probably best not to think about it.

We headed to breakfast in the morning, in a grand air conditioned dining room. There was a very basic selection of foods, mostly local noodle and rice dishes- We were offered eggs though. Better than nothing, but I wouldn’t rush back for the food.

For AU$45, we couldn’t stay in a backpackers in Australia, so overall- great value. If you’re not a fussy eater, and don’t plan on spending much time in the hotel, I’m sure it’s a fine place to crash. Not somewhere I’d want to spend a week of my holiday. I’d be happy to pay extra for clean bathroom and linen.

My husband & I stayed here 1 night for a few hours.  We arrived at the airport very early in the morning & called for the shuttle service which took a while to show up.  The outside of the hotel is exactly as pictured and was beautiful however the inside of the room was disappointing.  The shower floors were slimy and the water did not get warm.  The sink was clogged and would not drain.  The bed had hairs in it which was quite disturbing & the wifi was poor and kept disconnecting.  There was also bugs on the floor. Once we slept a few hours,  we called the lobby to report that the shower was not getting warm.  We had to call several times before they finally sent someone up to look at it. At that point they told us it would not be fixed by check out time so we had to leave without properly showering after a long nights flight & having to move on to our actual destination.  The front desk did not speak much english so as we explained to them some of our problems they smiled and handed us a complaint card. We still had to find breakfast because we did not include it in our stay and at this point my husband did not want to put anymore money into this hotel.

I called here directly and asked for a room with a bath tub. I was told over the phone that they had one available and it was 500k. I verified again that this price was valid for a walkin rate and was assured the room with a tub would be available to me for 500k. I drove all the way here and walked from the parking lot to the lobby with a very bad leg from a recent accident. I was very much looking forward to relaxing. As I arrived, I told the 3 guys behind the desk about my phone call about 30 minutes prior. He said that they has two rooms available, one was 850, the other 750.

It wasn't even about the increase in money, but they said one thing on the phone and a different thing when I arrived. They could clearly see that walking was an extreme challenge for me. I thanked them for wasting my time and found a competitor nearby and ended up booking for 4 nights to recover. And I'm so glad I did because the facilities at Permata look pretty run down. As I walked away, the man started to try to bargain the price of the room with me. Unbelievably unprofessional. You should be ashamed. You lost potential revenue, a customer and earned a negative review.

Wifi sucks , only promise to repair but nothing until check out , cheap place to stay , good service from receptionist from check in until checkout , bad restaurant bad food , broken fridge , old building ,

Nice cheap hotel close to the airport

The place was nice and very similar to the pictures. Staff was nice, friendly, and helpful. Free pickup from airport was nice - very patient driver because it took us like an hour to get out of airport.
The location was fine. We spent most of our time at Kuta beach (10 minutes drive away)
Breakfast was fine but nothing special. The second morning the refill of the buffet took a very long time so we actually had to leave and eat at Kuta beach because we had a surf lesson with pickup.
The room wasn't that clean but it was fine for a short stay.
