The cuisine is of traditional Kerala flavour with the local specialities; delicious fish and prawns. There are single bedroom houseboats for two people and two bedroom houseboats for four people, a ride in the houseboats through the backwaters of Alleppey would give a chance to understand the culture and life of Kerala and also can experience the rich beauty of nature.

The backwaters are beautiful but staying in house boat is an ok idea . U can even go for a day cruise in house boat n spend the time in a leisure hotel by backwater. They land by 6 pm near some village n again start in morning. So prefer day cruise. The food is also basic not very good. But u can buy fresh sea food and the staff cooks it for you. We bought some fresh fish and fresh prawns , the staff cooked it for us. The wash rooms are bit smelly rest is k

We were a group of 3 firend and had a booking for sharing boat having 3 rooms and got 1 room for us. as per the budget the experience was a great. they provide very delicious breakfast and snacks. for lunch there was a fish for nonveg people and in the dinner chicken was served to nonveg people. For veg peaople the lucnh and dinner food is average, as one mey not like much as I didnt liked the food much.But the snacks and coffee was great to have with the breeze of the backwater .
the sight seeing not the important thing instead the experince in a boat was great.
Ac was working in night after 7 o'clock.
The staff was polite .
Hot water is not available
there are around 12 boats of ATDC so be careful to book one as all Boats are not good in situation. Our boat was good.

I am unable to give an honest review of this boat trip because I chose not to do it and abandoned ship prior to departure. From arrival to the drop off area it was doomed. We were left standing in a busy traffic area where we had to dodge the mud puddles while our bags were whisked away and placed precariously on a motorbike that was heading across a narrow bridge to the other side of the waterway. We were ushered across a make shift ladder device that had been set up to access the boat - not the safest. Passing the kitchen area it did not look the cleanest. We had booked for deluxe accommodation with a boat to ourselves but were shoved onto a boat with 8 rooms that were being filled very rapidly. The rooms were small with with worn dirty carpet and bed linen and towels that looked questionable. A cake of soap was the only sign of toiletries. The shower/toilet room had wet floor and smelled. In desperation I had to use the amenities and the toilet seat fell off. The room was hot and we were informed that aircon was to be switched off between 4 and 9 pm - mosquito time. There was no room safe and no way of securing the room from outside when you left it. We informed staff of mistake in booking and were told they would get us another boat - another 3 boats and all similar condition. While waiting for our transport to arrive to take us to a hotel other couples left the boat as well. Safety, hygiene and comfort were a concern so I am unable to give 100 percent review. But would not recommend this company when apparently there are about 1000 other boats to choose from. Do your research.

My father was visiting from the UK and we decided it would be good to spend time on the backwaters. Admittedly, we did arrive late so were not able to take advantage of seeing the entire backwaters and ended up going only a little up river and then anchored to have lunch. The lunch was served cold, which they blamed on our late arrival but could have reheated had they wanted to. After that, we then anchored for the night, where they hook up the electricity cable to one of the homes but again, we were given cold food. Luckily we had brought a few snacks along so had something to eat. The boat was dirty and had not been cleaned. The bathroom fixtures were all broken and it was filthy so that we didn't even (or couldn't) take a shower. There was no soap, towels or toilet paper, and we were given a dirt blanket to use to sleep in. There was no proper bed sheets.
My assessment is that these guys know they are going to get customers regardless of whether they improve their service or not, and would rather not. They are only after making money rather than good impressions and hospitality; if you go elsewhere in Kerala you are treated very well. I would NOT recommend this company at all. Rather, it is best if you stay in a hotel and then take a day trip on a boat, which is what we did the following day.

My Houseboat Experience was Average. I booked for 31st December 2016 and checked out on 1st Jan 2017 morning.... I was very disappointed with atdc service. I wasted my 2 hours sitting there ideally and this was very boring.
