Watch out there's a thief about

Fight your way through the cigarette stench at reception which stays with you all the way up the 2 flights of stairs (no Lift) to arrive in a room which is gobsmacking. Bright purple paint poorly applied to peeling, also poorly applied wall paper. Wardrobe with no door, a garden table and 2 chairs. No headboard. The carpet coming up the stairs was dirty but doesn't compare to the filthy carpet in the room. Cracked sink and bathroom tiles. Towels should have been replaced some time ago. Air con is by way of a noisy ceiling fan. There is no safe in the room and we had both my purse and my partners wallet stolen from the room whilst we were out. Doors bang heavily all around. Breakfast is sparse - nothing cooked and limited supply. Staff member doesn't want to know.
Avoid this place!

Booked through booking.com for 4 nights at a good rate.
Arrived to get a dirty room, towel rail falling off the wall, bedside light not working, ventilation fan in bathroom with no window not working. Hotel fully booked so room change not possible. All faults reported but not fixed in our 4 night stay. Bed not made up or towels changed one day.
Management have a "couldn't care less" attitude. All problems are blamed on others and no responsibility taken for service customer pays for.
I rate it as quaint as I have never experienced such an awful hotel in the last 15 years.
Do not stay here.

Mouldy Shower Curtain.
Curtains thinner than paper.
Bathroom door had no handle on the inside to close. Someone had to push closed from outside.
Decor awful.
Worst 'hotel' we have stayed in. Have stayed in hostels far better.
A beautiful city, and this is hotel has a good location

The hotel was about fifteen minutes walk with bags from the station where the airport shuttle, 5 euros each, dropped us. If you're arriving late they provide the access code and room number by email in advance. No lift, we were at the head of the first flight. Large room, comfy bed, good sized bathroom, lights above the bed that worked, though those above the settee didn't. Only one plug we could use which required some juggling.
We were asked to put the card out if and when we required the towels changed, really good idea as I personally don't feel the need for them to be always changed daily.
The main square is five minutes walk away with a selection of coffee bars and restaurants, and a handy carrefour express. The old City is about twenty minutes walk away and is spectacular on the skyline as you get close. This is obviously full of beautiful buildings but mostly occupied by souvenir shops, chocolate shops and restaurants, not as expensive as we had feared.
The best place we found to eat was Au Lard et Au Cochon. The lunchtime menu is unbelievable and amazing value. Warning...the entree salad is huge! We couldn't even finish the main course at 11.50. The portion of potatoes or chips is also gigantic. My husband had veal both times, best meal he's EVER had in France. Lire pitcher of wine for 8 euros, the place is unbeatable.
Terrible

We spent 1 night. The toilet was in a sort of wardrobe. It was so small you could barely move.
The staff was polite but the rooms looked in very poor conditions and badly organized. Can't tell about the breakfast.
