Wow what an experience, unimaginable,enjoyed it really,what added to the pleasant weather and the cool breeze was the ambience of the house boat, hospitality of the people including Mr.Kurien and the food quality and taste. Overall it was a mesmerising experience and I suggest everyone,if you are stuck with choosing a houseboat either in kumarakom or allepy,then Backwater Retreat should be choice.

As most of reviewers suggest, Retreat House is a beautiful and tranquil setting for a perfect getaway. I think this ambiance is created by a combined effort of the team who is running this place, a bunch of sincere and warm hearted people. Mr Kurien, the owner of this place is a wonderful host, very helpful and reachable. His suggestions in deciding our backwater excursions helped us navigate the trips effortlessly. The fact that Retreat House is in the center of Aymanam village makes it all the more attractive. Our long morning and evening walks in the surrounding areas and interaction with local people gave us a glimpse of Kerala and its beautiful people. I would highly recommend this to individuals who are seeking quiet places for long term stays. The place is simple and will meet all your needs. Any shortcoming will be promptly addressed by the staff. We reached this place from Kochi via taxi in two hours. Kumarakom and Kottayam are easily reachable by auto rickshaws. Shikara ride to Vembanad Lake from Retreat House is worth enjoying, equally attractive and cheaper option is ferry from Kottayam to Alleppey. Food is excellent and so is coffee and tea! My thanks to everyone at the Retreat House , I look forward to visiting them again.

A perfect stay at their houseboat . They have so much to offer that one gets completely smitten away. Special mention of the driver Renil and the chef Sham . They made our stay super special . My 7 month old kid was the happiest one !

Clean rooms and neat bath room. The staff are very pleasing and responsive.
Location is too good for a peaceful stay. The property is an antique type construction making justice to Kerala's traditional houses.

Clean rooms and moreover very clean bathrooms. Rooms are in front of backwater. But the courtyard can b improved. it effects the overall impression. The stuff is too good and too responsive. The menu must b improved. Overall average stay.
