Lovely room, very comfortable bed, great shower and facilities, tasty breakfast, beautiful grounds with fishing lakes, perfect stay and perfect location, in the small Norfolk village of Elsing, for my trip visiting family.
AN AMAZING FIND

The Lodge is located in Elsing, a typical little Norfolk village with an excellent real ales and cider pub close by offering really great value for money cuisine and a beautiful historic church opposite, it couldn't be better located. The facilities are clean, spacious and well appointed, the breakfast very good and substantial, the management and fellow guests welcoming and friendly. If a fishing fan, it'll be heaven, well stocked lakes from which we saw a couple catch over 40 large fish in a single day! As a non-fisher it offers tranquillity and a base from which to explore. Great value for money and dog friendly too. Ample car park and lovely walks in countryside full of wildlife and scenic views.
Visiting family 10 miles away, Perfect & peaceful place to stay.

Firstly I'd like to thank Jane and Chris on a wonderful break again , the room we stayed in was spot on as always (room 6 ) small but everything you need... clean and tidy tea coffee plenty of sockets for 3 men with every divice known to man ... breakfast was faultless everyday ... and now for the fishing fished the first pond on the Monday and it's just full of commons and mirrors can't go wrong had an amazing day ... Tuesday went to hall walk these lakes are something special but harder to fish didn't catch like at bartles but the ones you do catch are well worth it .. Wednesday fished the middle pond at bartles and wow honestly people will think I'm lying it was non stop from 5 am til 6pm .. only stopped for breakfast and lunch in the mermaid inn .... we lost count of how many we caught but at a estimate between 3 of us I'd say minimum of 120 carp adverage of 5lb biggest 10lb smallest 3 lb... it was a proper work out on the method feeder .... to be fair it's alway been that good.... Chris the owner runs a tight ship when it comes to the fishery side of things every fish is in tip top condition... we are booked on for next summer and it can't come quick enough.
The mermaid inn is only a stone's throw away is fantastic goos food and nice local ales and ciders well worth a visit .... long they both remain in operation...
Hope everything goes well for you Jane and Chris I've got some brilliant memories at bartles good luck .
