Stayed here on a Saturday night at the end of January. It was okay overall, but I did not leave with a wow factor.
The first room we were allocated was on the ground floor. We weren't impressed by the room and asked to move as the radiator didn't work on what was a cold night (and the knob just turned round and round - and probably hadn't worked for a while).
Luckily the receptionist was very helpful and allocated another room, letting me check it out first.
A decent night's sleep in a decent bed.
The breakfast was average, but not great.
I wouldn't really recommend this hotel to others.

Visited again 31st Jan for 3 nights.Slight hiccup on arrival .Was put in a standard room when an Exec.room paid for.Soon rectified by Cerian.Reception staff friendly and helpful.
The room was large and warm .Yes they are not exactly luxury but boy for the price excellent.Meal on first night has a £15 pp towards your meal which was also very good and plentiful.My sort of food.We ate again on the last night and both had fish and chips.Again whales were served.No complaints.
Itâs about 7 miles to park and ride and for bus pass holders £1 each.
Monks cross also easily reached.
Would we return ?Of course we would.

Stopped at the burn hall hotel on a weekend deal it was superb ,the staff were superb ,the food was good ,the only downside was the drinks were extortionate ,but overall a great weekend would go again no problem

Best Western Burn Hall Hotel - Near York
My husband found a great deal at the Burn Hall hotel situated just outside York via Travel Zoo for an amazing £89.00 for the two of us for two night stay with cream tea on arrival, standard double room which was sung but for that price you canât complain, in fact the bathroom was nearly as big as the bedroom. In the room there was tea and coffee, hair dryer, small soap and two little bottles which I assume were hair/shower gel, alarm clock, TV, phone and free Wi-Fi. (Ironing board etc. available at reception on request).
Breakfast was served during the week from 7am to 9.30 and at weekends 8.00 to 10.00, all self-service from fresh fruit, cereals, toast and marmalade to a full cooked breakfast of sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, baked beans, mushrooms and black pudding. There was no alternative for vegetarians on the cooked breakfast so I made myself some toast and put some beans on top to make myself beans on toast.
The first evening we ate in the hotel, âRichardsonâs Restaurantâ opening hours were 18.00 to 21.00 and they recommended that you book a table as the restaurant gets very busy at times. The wine was about £19.00 for a bottle of red, and there was a good selection on the menu but again only two options for a vegetarian against five form the grill selection and eight on the mains selection. My husband had a choice of at least 13 different varieties and the starters were the same for him but very limited for myself. I enjoyed everything I had but would have appreciated a wider selection on the menu for vegetarians like myself, so the following evening we ate in York city centre.
Itâs very good value for money and the hotel are still doing a number of different offers available direct with the hotel itself. (I was planning in my head my next break with them while eating my cream scone when we arrived as there were leaflets on the tables where we were sat). All staff were friendly, polite and used eye contact when speaking to you. Very nice break, a little out of the way but we just drove into York and parked for the day for £12.50 (machine did not take notes so you needs lots of pound coins or pay via your mobile phone) You can do the park and ride but when we visited it closed at 18.00 and we wanted to eat in York at the end of the day at the Indian restaurant, (Voted Number 1 in York) we found lots of good pubs during the day and had a brilliant weekend at a very reasonable price.

Stayed here for a couple of nights this week. Not sure we would return to be honest, the hotel rooms aren't the greatest, could really do with updating, the staff aren't friendly and the manager didn't even say hello or goodbye even though sat on the reception desk on a couple of occasions when we entered and left the hotel.
We had cream tea booked and was told we where not on the list so couldn't have it till the day later so we ordered a couple of snacks to be told 30 mins later oh you are on the list you can have it now. Plus there was no one in there at the time either.
The stay was ok, and if in the area we would stay but if your looking to go to York to eat, drink etc then you might as well stay in York as it's a better option.
