What People are saying
Adequate as a place to stay

The hotel was clean, the staff were pleasant, but it was unbelievable to us that the hotel bar and restaurant closed early on New Years' Eve. As it is a bit of a distance from the city centre, not walking distance but well served by buses, we decided to spend the evening at our hotel, have a meal and a few drinks before midnight. The buses were not to be running from the city centre after midnight so there was no point in remaining there. We headed down to the restaurant for a meal about 8pm, to find it closed and locked, the bar also. We ended up having to go to a local garage for a bag of pretzels and a can of soda for our dinner. It had not been advertised, and there was no sign up to say the bar and restaurant would be closed. This is the first time we have encountered this, and we always take a holiday over New Year, so I can affirm this to be unusual. Other than that, the hotel was adequate, our rooms were clean, it would be nice if there was spare bed linen, as the duvet did not reach the edges of the bed and the pillows were flat. It got very hot during the night, and a safety feature missing was that the windows opened all the way, which was surprising and actually welcome, as I like to lean out a little to look out, especially as there were fireworks all over the city at midnight on New Year's Eve. I understand staff may not be happy to work over New Year, but having worked in the hospitality industry myself, I learned a long time ago to just suck it up and get on with it.
Having said that, if I was back in Warsaw again, I would stay at this hotel. It is reasonably priced and as I said, well served by buses.

We had a rough day.. we came to Warsaw without
A hotel to stay in.,
We drowe around from hotel to hotel and tried to
Get s room.. all booked.
Finally we got a room from a Student Hotel, Best Western Portos
We were politely welkomed and got a really nice and clean room.
Check in and out was easy.
Only -1 point was the slight unprofessional touch
witch was not bad.
Young students are here to learn all the basics.
Happy with the stay and can recommend
Comfortable hotel and friendly staff.

The hotel is to the south of central Warsaw. Transfer by coach from Modlin Airport to Warsaw Central takes around 55 minutes. We then got an Uber to the hotel which was around £10. It is accessed by public transport but we used taxis to get about - staff were happy to phone them for us. The hotel bar is small but well stocked and reasonably priced. We did not eat in the hotel. Our twin room was very comfortable. with two complimentary bottles of water. It was warm but no obvious air conditioning. The hospitality tray did not have breakfast tea but the restaurant staff were happy to give us some. The bathroom had liquid soap, body wash/shampoo and a powerful, easy to use shower.
There is a construction site close by which starts work around 07.00 hrs. so can be noisy if you need the window open. The TV has very few English speaking channels.
The staff were polite, cheerful and extremely helpful. We had a very pleasant stay in this lovely hotel.
Decent 3 Star Hotel in Warsaw

The hotel is situated close to the city centre and easy to get to using public transport with Google Maps. It is one of 3 properties off a main road, a one star hotel (Start Aramis), a two star (Start Atos) and the 3 star Best Western Portos. The Portos is well furnished and modern with spacious rooms and comfortable beds. Bathrooms are modern and have good showers with shampoo and soap provided. (Sadly my room had no liquid soap). There is a hairdryer and sockets for shavers etc. The rooms are well heated and have a phone, fast free Wi-Fi and a large screen HD TV but with only a couple of English TV channels. You also get a kettle and coffee/tea provided. One annoying thing is the horrible hard chairs in the rooms, they are nasty plastic things and not comfortable whilst at the table using a computer etc. Overall pretty comfortable but the property is 100% non smoking so a lower floor room might be best for smokers to get to the outside smoking area. Noise can be an issue with construction close by and the Aramis hotel crowd smokers can be quite noisy if you are in a lower floor room. Breakfast/Bar is pricey but there are local alternatives including a well stocked petrol station across the road that offers pizza slices, hot dogs, beers and nice coffee at reasonable prices. I enjoyed the Portos and would book again as it offers better facilities than it's co-located cousins in this area of Warsaw.
