Me and my partner stayed between Christmas and new year (late review).
First impressions it looked very welcoming,
Arriving in the hotel, we wasnât shown where anything was or told about any facilities we was only pointed in the direction of our room, which didnât help when trying to find breakfast the next morning..
Our room was small, basic, suitable if youâre not going to stay in it long basically.. tiny wardrobe, marks on walls, big black stain on the curtain, cold, - we didnât even unpack, we left our clothes in our suitcase.
In the room, swiftly out to go have a walk round oxford street. Main reason for the trip was winter wonderland!! Defiantly worth a visit!
After a lovely evening, we decided to walk back to the hotel, shattered we decided to have an early night.
Waking up at 6.30 in the morning shivering as it was so cold in our room, after putting a few layers on we swiftly went for breakfast as we were already awake we didnât want to waste no time in getting back in the centre and enjoying our last day before our train home.
Stood waiting 10 minutes to be seated when there was only 2 other people sat in the breakfast area (after we found it)
Finally seated asked if we wanted tea or coffee ect, got those waited 10 minutes for lady to bring milk that never came, so decided to get up myself and look for some, by then our coffees were luke warm, food was ok, variety good.
Back to the room, still freezing, couldnât even shower the bathroom was like being on the Antarctic, also there was no blind on the shower window, only frosted glass, baring in mind the was a seating area the other side of the window, our siloet would clearly of been seen, embarrassing!
Left, checked out by half 8/9ish.
At check out, the receptionist asked if we enjoyed our stay, so I said how cold our room was that morning, for then another receptionist who was not dealing with me butted in and was very rude!
I didnât bother explaining any of the other issues because I felt like I would have been wasting my time with her snotty responses.
I have worked and currently work in a hotel myself, so I know the standards.
However, luckily the manger was there at the time and offered us her card, very politely apologised and offered up a discount to stay again.
Once Home, we opened the invoice to find we didnât have our invoice but an invoice of someone who is due to stay in April. I rang the hotel to check that the correct amount was taking from us from our stay, which the receptionist didnât apologies after I explained the reason for checking.
Luckily the right amount was paid, but I did contact the manager to express my problems with our stay, and declined her offer for discount to stay again as we wonât be ever. The manger was very helpful and delt with the situation in a polite and professional manner. However she did say that in fact our heater in our room was broken!
On a hole, London was amazing, hotel needs improvements on customer service and tidy up of the rooms.
Only good thing about this hotel is the location!

Hotel was okay. Clean room, friendly and nice workers.
No refrigerator in my room though which I thought was weird.
No pancakes on their breakfast menu. And you can't do take aways if you're running late for work because they don't have takeaway plates.

The hotel is located very near to Tube station and not far from the Paddington Station.
The decoration is modern and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming.
We booked single rooms, which were at the back of the hotel and it was very quiet.
The mattress was very firm though comfortable. Plenty of hot water in the shower. It has air con which would be ideal in summer.
Room was very clean. It has a free mobile phone in the room for guests to use and take out which is a very good idea. But I would imagine, if the phone was stolen, damaged or lost, the guest would be liable for the cost.
Breakfast was good though the black budding was over cooked.
Two small issues in the single room were, there werenât enough sockets for the TV and the kettle. So every time you want to put the kettle on, you have to unplug the TV.
The second issue was there was no shaver socket in the shower room. The extractor fan was very efficient.
All in all a lovely hotel to stay.

Basic hotel in a central location. The room was clean. We were unhappy that charges for breakfasts that we didn't have were made to our account 2 days after leaving. I am currently waiting for this to be resolved.

A one night stop, I would like to have stayed longer. Friendly welcome, room upgraded to an executive suite with breakfast included at no extra cost. Room is on 2 levels with bathroom and living area downstairs with the bedroom on a mezzanine. Excellent decor and immaculately clean. Would definitely recommend The Mornington for a stay in London, perfectly situated adjacent to Hyde Park.
