What People are saying

Not worth 5 stars

We stopped in Mérida on our way home to Malaga to view the Roman structures reputed to be some of the best in Spain. The Mérida Palace attracted us because of it´s location and 5 star rating.
Apart from the location, kind and attentive staff, we were disappointed.
The entrance to the hotel forms a very large patio, typical of many Spanish buildings and attractive. The down side was because of it`s size and height it was freezing cold without heating. Many locals were having tea or drinks, all wrapped in many layers of clothing. Outside it was 10c. which is typical in the winter in this part of Spain
Our room was typical Spanish, very sombre decoration, and rather gloomy. This was not a major problem and we have stayed in many similar hotels in Spain. However good things stopped there.
The floors were tiled, but there were no rugs or even a bathmat each side of the bed. As there was no bathrobe or even slippers, our feet froze getting out of bed.
The double bed was two singles pushed together, this is quite common, but the beds had been made up individually, so giving your wife a cuddle was quite complicated!
The sheet on one of the beds had a hole in it.
The bathroom has a separate toilet, but as there was no door it was a waste of space.
There was no pen or writing pad to jot down notes which is normal in even a 3 star hotel.
Breakfast was good, but the first morning there was no aircon to warm the room.
An evening meal was well served, but had to be taken in the unheated courtyard!
The price was very attractive for our 2 night stay. If they improved some of the facilities it would be a nice place to stay from spring to autumn, but not in the depths of winter.

Very nice.

Centrally located within walking distance of all the main attractions. Very nice hotel completely restored and renovated with great services. The staffs did a fabulous job to inform us of all the activities around Merida.

What a find!

Merida was only a one night stop off for us between Madrid and Jerez and we wanted to visit the Roman museum which incidentally did not disappoint it was amazing!. The hotel was absolutely beautiful, the reception/bar was so lovely and we had a bottle of their cava at 14Eur which for a hotel of this calibre wasa nice surprise. It was served to us beautifully too. Reception staff were first class and whilst it was too cold for us to use it was good to know there is a roof terrace. There are only 5 room with balconies and there is an extra charge but if your want one it is best to book ahead. We would have loved to have one but there were already booked out. We highly recommend this hotel.

Lovely hotel with an excellent location

We visited Merida at the end of October, in the low tourist season, and this hotel came up in our accommodation search at an amazingly low price for its 5* quality standards. Everything was up to our expectations and we had a great time here. Very easy to find in the city main square, impeccable valet parking and friendly reception on arrival, an impressive and beautifully tile decorated lobby, large and comfortable room with superb mosaique decorations above the bed and elegant atmosphere. Breakfast was rich and fresh, with an option for hot eggs and sausages on request. We also had a dinner at the hotel restaurant, but that was less than memorable, with average quality dishes, although the waiter was very kind and prompt in his service. The central location makes it easy to reach all the tourist attractions of the city. This is an excellent option for a stay in Merida, highly recommended!

Right on main square

Great location depending what you prefer. Breakfast was a basic buffet and reasonably expensive at 15 euros but plenty of options just out in the square.
An easy walk to all attractions and close to some fantastic restaurants.
The gym is literally just a treadmill, stair machine and cross trainer... no weights or other equipment at all! The sauna was locked on our visit also.
No parking is available on site but the friendly concierge will park your car and retrieve it for 19.50 euro a day which we again consider a bit pricey...
The room was huge with a king size bed and all expected amenities.
