Had a bad evening. Missed out on their signature meal of rack of lamb as they had run out. Noisy. Full bodied wine not full bodied. Fish and chips not great. Gravy with roast not tasty. Good chicken and sticky toffee pudding.
Not impressed.

Was looking forward to visiting The Chequers to celebrate my 50th with friends and wife. The reviews seemed favourable so I was looking for a well-cooked hearty roast. However I was very disappointed I'm afraid. I know the economy could be in better shape, but the meat was thinly sliced and full of gristle, and the potatoes were stodgy and unpleasant. Not good value at all. I'm afraid I will not be eating here again nor recommending The Chequers to my many friends who visit Bath. Please raise your game.

Having tried lots of alternatives for a spontaneous Saturday night supper for 4, the Chequers thankfully had a table. Menus appeared promptly and our order was taken - starters of crispy squid were delicious. We waited in eager anticipation for the main courses to appear....eventually catching the waiters eye, he mumbled apologies and disapppeared. After another 15 minutes mains finally arrived and we all agreed they were great- to give credit to the team, they offered free deserts/coffee and confessed they had a party of 30 in the private dining room which had delayed our service - commendable to fess up in the end, though a more experienced host might have managed our expectations more astutely.
Overall the quality and ambience was good and I'm sure we'll be back.

Was in Bath for weekend for my wife's 50th birthday. Checked out the reviews and was delighted to get a booking on Sunday 21st Jan. Lovely ambient, laid back atmosphere and wonderful food. I could not fault anything. Will have no hesitation in going back to eat next time we're in Bath.

Popped in with a friend for a quick pint and was very impressed. Staff are friendly and helpful and they serve a very good pint of Gem. I have walked past here many times but not gone in, think I will try it again soon and maybe this time have some food as the menu also looked very appealing.
