We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Cambria House which is in a pleasant location convenient for the city centre. Karel is very kind and helpful and looked after us very well. Our room was very comfortable and well furnished and the sizeable bathroom had good facilities. We had freshly cooked breakfasts looking out to the pretty garden, a lovely place to stay.
So comfortable

The room and bathroom were of a very high standard with lots of lovely features in the bathroom - underfloor heating, stand alone bath, large shower etc. Some nice touches in the bedroom too including complimentary Port.
Breakfast was wonderful with a good selection of quality produce beautifully presented.

My wife and I toured New Zealand for a month during February and March 2017. We have provided reviews of all the places we stayed at during our tour. To see the reviews of the other places we stayed at please click on my name to the left and then when the box comes up click on my name again.
We stayed in Cambria House for two nights. We wanted to book a water taxi to the Abel Tasman National Park and take a walk along the coast. Carol, the owner, was very helpful and made the bookings on our behalf. She also gave us some good advice regarding which walks to take. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding and room was very clean. The breakfast was excellent and Carol went out of her way to provide sourdough bread for my wife and also cooked some beans, which were not on the menu, especially for me.
There is off street parking available at the front of the property. The property is in a residential area about 15 minutes walk from the restaurant area.
Its website states 'Luxury' - maybe some years ago...

We stayed here for 3 nights. The website states that this is a luxury B&B. That may have been true many years ago and yet of all the B&B that we stayed at on this month long trip, it was the least level of luxury that we enjoyed.
The room was relatively small, particularly for 3 nights, with very limited storage for clothes etc.
The bathroom was tiny with very limited places to place the necessary bathing and shaving items.
When looking closely the room had quite a lot of cobwebs and whilst generally clean, it was in need of a deeper clean, I suggest.
The couple who run the business were very pleasant and helpful with information about the local area.
The breakfast was OK and we had it early each day so that we could explore the area more.
I would not recommend the location of Nelson for more than 1 or maximum 2 days as there is a limited choice in the area. The highlight was a boat trip and walk.
Comfortable rooms homely

Cambria house was very nice and in a good position for walking in to Nelson. The breakfasts were very good and the owners were both friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Made a nice change from hotels.
