What People are saying

A short business stay

J P S on 06/02/2018 18:37

I was booked in by a client. I think that some of the reviews are a bit harsh, although we should all speak as we find.

I have found the hotel to be spotlessly clean, and all of the staff to be friendly and helpful. I am suffering from mobility problems, and so I was glad of the lift. I was offered help with my bag to my room.

The breakfast is excellent, both as to quality and as to service. It is refreshing to have breakfast individually cooked rather than finding it drying out on a buffet: the scrambled eggs were clearly freshly-cooked, and the quality of the bacon would be hard to beat.

If I had to be at all negative, I would say that some of the bedroom furniture is not in the first flush of youth, and that it would help to have a bedside lamp in my room, as the switch is at the opposite end of the room. Such shortcomings are but small and easily overcome and, my goodness, the wifi speed is faster than anything I have experienced, elsewhere.

I would be happy to stay there, again.

Rude not staying again

clp111 on 03/02/2018 04:57

The old man who works there was so rude and there was absolutely no need of it. He spoke to us so horribly and threw us out knowing that we had been there a few hours before and our belongings were upstairs. He also would not listen to us when we tried to explain. Only one member of staff working also it was an absolute shambles there. Would never go back again.

Christmas party, very poor experience.

Fair_reviewer_Wales on 28/01/2018 20:43

The premises are very pleasant, but that’s where the positives end. Door staff, reception and bar staff were unfriendly and seemed uninterested. Bar staff were very young and seemed to struggle with no guidance, they served whoever was in front of them and would serve people who’d been waiting longer. The servers were great, although very busy, polite and apologetic. Food was sub standard for the price in my view.
However, my biggest issue was the cramped dining area, we had 10 people on a table designed for a maximum of 8 at a push. Every chair was tight against the next and the end of the table was against a wall, it was incredibly cramped and I had to eat with one hand. One member of our party complained and we were given a free round of drinks. Unfortunately, this did not make right what was an uncomfortable and lacklustre dining experience.
On a positive note, the singer was very good and really involved the audience.

Excellent service in pleasant surroundings.....

We dined here for lunch and chose the traditional roast dinner ,the food was very tasty and the vegetables were cooked to perfection ,however we didn't have time for starters or deserts as we were in a rush ,will definitely visit again and I think that the menu is very reasonably priced ,excellent service ....

Lovely staff. Good location

Like going to Mecca, For Wales Rugby Union fans throughout the world, this is a pilgrimage everyone should do once in their lifetime.....stay in the Castle hotel, the place where the Welsh Rugby Union was formed. A spacious hotel room with a boutique feel, tidy Welsh breakfast and friendly, glamorous staff in the restaurant and on reception. Only small caveat- can there be a couple more local beers on the bar please. The Castle is a really Good place to stay.
