Small Georgian Hotel

We turned left at the roundabout into the grounds of this fine looking Georgian property. After parking the car we strode across the pebbled car park which holds over a doz vehicles and was met by this very helpful receptionist. Helpful to the extent that he gave us another room after a fault was discovered with room 9. The room was basic ,neautral colors with a good sized shower and a bed which gave us the best night sleep for months.....,,.The January weather gave us a very windy and rain soaked experience but inside it was warm and cosy. However i do think they overlooked some of the finer details ..like the shelf for my toilet bag was the floor and a hand rail in the shower was lacking...to name a few........... Inspite of the rounadabout as seen from the breakfast table the full English and etc was smashing and very filling and the staff amiable and professional. No problems with the High Street and tourist attractions. They are in the opposite direction. On the way we came came across these old and fascinating backroads ..The Cathedral is just just a 5-10 min walk away. So the hotel i think is in a ideal location.. There is a pleasant twist about staying at this hotel and that is if you take your room key to the Pilgrims English Res and the the Dems res you will receive a 20% discount off your meals ..and they are both very close to the Marlowe Theatre
Very comfortable and clean; great staff

Impeccably clean, tastefully decorated, decent-sized shower with plenty of hot water,
lovely staff, good breakfast both traditional full English and plenty for non-meat eaters
( the array of kinds of fruit salad was much appreciated, as was the organic yoghurt)
and some very interesting original oil paintings by Amanda Stratford. A great stay,

A cosy, warm hotel that affords a good reception and serves an excellent breakfast. I was in room 5 which looks onto the Norman Keep - quite fantastic. This is a small and friendly hotel. I intend to visit again with my family, Its location is good and a couple of minutes walk from the lovely city of Canterbury
A basic B&B...

I arrived hungry and fairly late on a dark and dismal evening, so the Castle House fitted in perfectly with the mood. I found the room overheated (I did turn down the central heating) and the bathroom impractical (why does anyone still do basins with two taps?) and not clean enough. Shower water pressure was non-existent, and impossible to shave or brush my teeth without everything going on the floor. The wifi didn't work at all, so I used my phone as a hotspot as the easier option than clarifying the technical difficulties of this. The breakfast was average, and it was the highlight of my stay. Not so cheap that I would stay again.
Value for money

Hotel was in a great location. Was clean, tidy and comfortable, does need some measure of refurbishment to raise it up a level, but this would almost certainly rais itâs price band. It is near a busy roundabout, but does have secondary glazing which does cut down the noise a lot! Staff were very friendly and breakfast was Good and cooked to order. All in all, we had a very pleasant stay in a decent hotel.
