Classified as a 3-star hotel, but rather with 2-star comfort. The room was big and in principle clean, but with simple furniture. The chairs were shaking and at the brink of breaking. Mattresses small and soft – they probably have seen already a lot of customers. The carpet was old and with stains. The windows have ventilation slits on top, which cannot be fully closed. Consequence: Beside a constant air inflow you will hear very well the noise from the street. By the way, you also hear well the neighbors. Thin walls.
The bathroom was smelling bad. No heating in the bathroom. The shower was extremely difficult to adjust – it is likely that you end up either having a cold or a boiling hot shower. The shower screen does not prevent water flowing to the floor – unavoidable to flood the bathroom. The mirror in the bathroom is right from the sink to make shaving more challenging. Don't expect a hair dryer or other useful items in the room.
The breakfast for 12 Euros turned out to be simple and of very basic quality. You will have to compete with other customers for everything. But to be fair, service brought from time to time new stuff.
The hotel is directly adjacent to the main train station. Not my preferred area.
Price was much too high for what they offer.

Excellent Location

My score reflects the excellent location of this hotel, rather than it offering anything that merits 4 stars. We stayed for a few days covering New Year's Eve at a very reasonable rate, given the time of year.

The hotel is smack in the middle of the diamond quarter, opposite the Central Station if you're travelling by train, a short walk to car parks if you're travelling by car and about 1 minute's walk from the zoo. There are some pubs (Beer Central is excellent!) and plenty of eateries close-by if you don't fancy the trek into the Old Quarter. China Town is also a short walk.

The room was basic and pretty airless but we coped for a long weekend stay. On our second day, we left a note written in English on the bed asking for extra pillows and they had duly appeared upon our return. My biggest complaint is the smell of cigarettes in the corridors, in a supposedly smoke-free hotel... such is life!

If you want to pay a premium for poor quality, stay here.

The vestibule brings one back to the 90s with the heavy smell of smoke and because it also is heated the air is uncomfortable to walk through.

The service is non-existent. On one night we greeted the receptionist on entry and received a glare.

The elevator was on three separate days: not working (one of them), had spit in the corner and had a cigarette butt in it.

The hallway of the seventh floor smelled like smoke on and off for several days - while this is a non-smoking hotel, that must only be in writing. The walls are thin, and smoke will drift into your room morning and night. Sounds can be heard clearly from hallways and from other rooms.

The walls are worn plaster. The bathroom has an old worn shower, but with surprisingly good water pressure - but surely not by any intention from the owners. The towels are worn and with holes in them.

You can request two single beds or one double, however, you are not guaranteed to have what you want. They should separate rooms into either category. The beds are worn, unstable and of the slightly better than the worst quality "fold-out"-beds. The sheets have holes in them, and so do the pillow cases.

In summary, location and water pressure is okay. Checking out is better (or simply don't check in.)

Worst hotel ever!

This is the worst hotel I stayed in ever! The rooms are not cleaned well enough, there were dirty, dusty and just not clean!!! The bathroom broke down. The bathtub didn’t work the water didn’t go away.
At night we went out and come back at 03:40 the hotel was closed no one at the desk, we spend calling at the door voor 10 minutes and no one opened the door. We were lucky enough some other guests also wanted to go in and ended up at a closed door. We should be happy they were able to call a friend that was in his room to open the door!!! If not we would be standing in the cold in front of a closed door. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! Don’t stay at this hotel!! IT IS HORRIBLE!!!!!

Location, location and location

Is this hotel very special ? no. Impressive? no. Is there a spectacular view from the rooms ? no. Is the breakfast good ? don't know, we left very early.
Is it cheap? no, it is midrange and that is ok.
But don't get me wrong: this hotel is not at all bad, and clean and the room we had was very spacious as we got a free upgrade to a room for 3.
The big, big plus of this hotel is it's location. Only a couple of steps from the main shopping area and restaurants and , that is why we came here, the Antwerp Central train station straight across the street. We had a morning flight from Schiphol Amsterdam airport and much to our surprise it takes only one hour to cover that distance by TGV. Perfect way to travel: a good night sleep , one hour by train and off you go, with a strongly reduced ticket price because you start your KLM trip outside the Netherlands. tip: walk to the ticket office in the train station first thing after opening, and check-out from the hotel only shortly before train leave. You might still have time for breakfast. We will for sure come again and do it this way.
