Changani Beach Cottages is in a beautiful spot with incredible views of the ocean. The villa we stayed in was fairly basic but more than adequate for our group, and definitely good value for money. The food left something to be desired and wasn't great value for money, but the responsiveness of the management to our feedback was really great and made up for it. The staff definitely care about customers' experience and went out of their way to make our stay special with personal touches - and it's clear that there are some really positive efforts to improve Changani going on behind the scenes. Thank you!

Changani is some 25 kms from Dar Es Salaam CBD, we visited there first weekend of April, the rooms were cozy and nice, a lot of dust in the rooms, the water pump wasn't working in the first room, we were then shifted to an executive room, the room was good, but since it was closed for so long, there was too much dust, especially on the bed, we hardly slept that night.
Management need to keep a closer eye on these issues.

The place is amazing. Lovely garden and swimming pool, beautifully crafted cottages surrounded by wild bush and with stunning sea view. Staff are very helpful and friendly. However the management of the place should improve. We booked by phone with the owner a few days in advance, but when we arrived we found out he had not informed his staff. They had cottages available fortunately, and really did their best to make us as comfortable and happy as possible even though they did not have things ready (cleaning, food shopping). The owner should really make sure communication with staff improves. Maintenance should also improve (we found a dangerous lose wood tile on our cottage floor and it could have easily caused an injury). The views and staff really made our experience amazing. The place and the nearby beaches are stunning.

We were there for an afternoon out and a meal. Waited for an hour and when the food turned up, BBQ chicken was raw and unpalatable. Chips were recycled, re-fried a couple of times. Salad looked old stale from days. The overworked chef (Indian expat) looked dripping in sweat and hardly bothered about the frustrated customers complaining. The waiter staff were glum faced and looked so unhappy with their jobs.
There was so called "Buffet" on offer and it might have looked just appetizing to the cats waiting to be thrown any scrap food.
At last the manager (India expat) was called in. He gave what we thought was his regular customary telling off drill to the chef and the staff loud enough so that we could hear too. A second attempt of food was delivered on the table but by that time the damage was done.
Bottom line. The place and staff look tired and need a complete overhauling. Pity such a lovely spot not meeting even 20% of its full potential. Mr Rustom Merani, please revive this place.

A quick pass by the hotel - food was average, limited menu - needs improvement. Views, cleanliness and service were very good. Well maintained. The manager was quite helpful and chit chatty to tell me more about their hotel and amenities. Clear emphasis on service and customer retention.
