When having a business meeting in the Maastricht Region, my partner and I usually look for an opportunity to combine business intensity with leasure. So we always take a few days extra including a weekend. Then Chateau St Gerlach is the prime choice. No doubt and no discussion: we have stayed several times there in residential suites and have enjoyed the wine and dine and the he wellness facilities. There is no real benchmark in the region unless you look in the belgian region next to Maastricht. It is top rated without any doubt. One sincere comment: please improve your customer relations management and awareness training with all your employees - there is room for improvement and it will increase the customer satisfaction to become delighted. Examples: it is really insulting that a reservation employee insists on a formal mail with credit card certification to confirm and finalise the booking of a customer who has stayed multiple times at the Chateau in a residential suite. Or: upon arrival in the evening at about 8 p.m. there is no one to assist with luggage. Or: reception employee does not even know the residential suite guests and is asking for their room number when enquiry is made to prolong the stay. Etc.

We were looking for a country inn/spa within about an hour of Brussels and it was hard to get info about options since many different countries are within that distance! This ended up being a great choice. The hotel is in an old hamlet, occupying the "chateau" and farm buildings and with a large private property as well as an adjacent Baroque chapel. It isn't really in the country but rather in a pastoral village setting, walking distance to Valkenburg (a surprisingly charming sort of mini-Bruges, completely unknown to me) and within a very short drive of the lovely city of Maastricht (free shuttle provided). We ate at their "fancy" restaurant, which was a very pleasant experience, and also had a meal at their sister property "Chateau Neercane", which was even more elaborate. All service was excellent. Generous and interesting breakfast buffet. Although the ground was a bit damp we had a great 2 hour walk through the tiny towns of Houthem and Geulham and along the river Geul to loop back through a field with entertainingly stubborn wild horses. The room was large and atmospheric, my only quibble being the lack of storage (only 2 tiny shelves in the bedside tables, plus hanging space in the wardrobe - huge room, lots of furniture, seems it would be easy to replace one of the decorative pieces with a functional chest of drawers?). Also, a charging station would help because the plug locations aren't easy to access. But quiet, dark, comfortable room

It is a fantastic place with shuttlebus in to city centre! Lovely garden with cherry trees. Good restaurants; try 'kikkerbillen'! Romantic, luxury, peaceful, private, royal, quality, clean and helpful staff.

Great place to relax, enjoy nature, lounge in the spa, and eat outstanding cuisine. Gerlach is a very enjoyable getaway with easy access to Maastricht when you want to hit the city. The rooms are top notch and the buffet breakfast is the morning has some great selections

Perfect room, nice dinner in a lovely environment, friendly service, nice breakfast buffet , swimming pool, sauna and hamman, really nice to relax and to enjoy life...the perfect place to celebrate a birthday !!!
