My rating reflects the fact that while I was pleased with several aspects of the hotel, others were not so good -- so the average rating is an average of my experiences. The value for money is pretty good, all things considered; the reception desk is well-manned; and some of the managers were very competent indeed. What let the hotel down was largely the restaurant; we had a very pushy server called Rahaman who tried to get us to eat more than we wanted to, and also was a bit rude at times, besides being not knowledgeable at all about the food. The food itself was a real let-down. The breakfasts were largely Indian, and the hot food was overall greasy. The 'local' food was, as with most restaurants in the region, not local at all -- the socalled Manipuri chicken curry I ate came entirely without the promised Vietnamese coriander, and tasted just like an oily curry from anywhere else in the country. The chicken and mutton pieces were tiny and bony, and tasted stale and old in what were largely tasteless curries. When I asked if a salad could be served without chaat masala, the famous Rahaman said it was 'ready made' and nothing could be done about this -- this is the first time I've heard that salads were ready made. The famous Rahaman also denied that dinner rolls were served with one of the soups on the menu, and eventually when he was shown this said that they didn't have any. This sort of unwilling, grudging service made our restaurant experience even worse. Of course most of the other servers were very well mannered and not at all pushy, but it takes only one bad egg to ruin the overall experience.
The rooms were old fashioned, with twin beds -- my bed was so narrow I kept falling off it, and the soft mattress gave me backache. Toiletries were very basic. The construction of the hotel was also grey and uninspiring, and the reception area was dark and uninviting.
I know that Imphal doesn't have the best of hotels, but the Classic as the leading chain could try to upgrade their facilities. This would encourage many more travellers to come to what is a neglected but beautiful region of India.

I stayed in classic hotel approx 4 month The classic hotel is very good in Imphal, rooms, restaurant, food are very good and all staff good behavior with customers, hotel are very neat and cleaned, big restaurant, low cost very good room

We stayed here for 3 nights. The rooms were clean, comfortable and well maintained. The hotel is centrally located and places for site seeing are close by. The hotel staff deserves a special mention - very helpful and friendly, they fulfilled our every request with a smile. Hotel serves amazing food! Overall outstanding experience. Highly recommended!

The classic Hotel is my Favourite in Imphal for its wonderful standards what they maintain . The hotel is located on the main Road . Very close to the main market
Rooms are spacious , Food excellant , Check in smooth . The restaurent has been wonderfully done
My special Thanks to the Classic Group for opening up their properties in the capital city as earlier finding a good hotel was Impossible . This is a Blessing for all the Tourist & Business Travellers
Luckily I happened to be in the city during the Sangai Festival , So witnessed that Grand event as well .

The Classic Hotel Imphal is owned by classic group of hotels which operates three more hotels in the city. The hotel is located on the main road in the North AOC area about eight km from airport. From outside the hotel doesn't look very impressive but reception area has enough space and room size is good. We stayed in Room no. 105 for two days during 27-29 November 2017. A clear sky was visible from the window which also allowed warmth of the sun to reach the room in the afternoon. Room was clean, bed was comfortable, bed covers and towels were fresh and washroom was properly cleaned and sanitized. The restaurant of the hotel offers a variety of continental and Indian dishes. One can get the North Indian vegetarian food of choice which is otherwise difficult to get in this part of the country. We enjoyed the taste of Bhindi Do Pyaza and Mixed Raita but Caramel Custard was not so good. In general food quality is good though little bit expensive. Mini bar was less expensive as compared to other similar hotels. Room service was excellent and front line staff was well behaved with a helping attitude. Hotel offers a comfortable accommodation for both tourists and business travelers. The complimentary breakfast in the morning suits all palates.
Because of its convenient location the hotel may serve as a base for the tourists to visit places in and around Imphal. Auto Rickshaws are available all the time at its main gate. The hotel also offers a travel desk facility but the rates are much higher than local taxis.
