ILUNION Cala Galdana is a very well kept complex of modern apartments giving the option to self cater, bed and breakfast or half board. The staff are very friendly in all areas and housekeeping is excellent. Apartments are bright, spacious and very comfortable. The Swimming pool is quite large and very nice and again is well maintained. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis and the spotless restaurant had all the usual breakfast offerings on a buffet basis including an English breakfast although this was in the main only luke warm, fairly typical of the buffet system. The grounds of the complex were immaculate and very pleasant.
There are a few points on the downside perhaps but are arguably not within the control of the hotel and more to do with location.
Firstly the car park is limited in size and would be a problem finding parking in the main season. Although you can park in the nearby streets it again will be difficult to park at peak times.
The Hotel itself is based high up in Cala Galdana and is a good 15 minute walk from the main part of the fabulous beach. The walk back would take far longer as it is a steep climb. The hotel apartment complex is built on a steep slope and if you have an apartment at the furthest point it again is a fairly steep climb. This area is not really suitable for older people particularly with mobility issues. Certainly worth trying to book apartments in the range of 101 to 107, 201 to 207 or 124 to 130, 224 to 230. these rooms are closer to the pool, restaurant and reception.
If you are staying here we would advise car hire as this wonderful island is worth the tour. Also if you are not to keen on steep walks to the beach then you can at least drive down and park closer. Once again though parking at peak times will be difficult.
Overall rating is this is a very good hotel, in fact for a three star we would say it is close to excellent. Would we stay here again? The answer is most definitely yes.
Excellent for the family

I stayed with my husband and 18 month old son. We specifically asked when booking for a room not too far from the pool so our baby monitor would reach and we could relax by the pool which they accommodated and was great! The room itself was perfect - very clean and simple presenting no dangers to our son, so we could happily let him run around without worrying. The bed was comfy and the blackout blinds and aircon were great. We were half board and really impressed with the selection and quality of the food. The restaurant staff were also great, especially Manuel who always stopped to make our son laugh. They were also happy to provide a glass of milk in the evening. We got a great deal and found it to be good value for money, especially considering Menorca is not the cheapest for accomodation!
There were a few negatives which didn't detract from what was a great stay :
-Dinner is as 2030. This was pretty late for our son and it would have been great if it started earlier
- although close to the beach, it's up quite a steep hill. We used the baby carrier but it would have been quite a struggle with a pushchair.
- some of the female cleaning staff drag their trolleys up and down the stairs during the day which is very loud and woke our son up.
- the pool was cold, colder than the sea. I would imagine mid August it's great but only the very brave ventured in during our stay.
- The coffee was very unpleasant
You could see this being a god stay for a family on a budget

Rather dear for 4 nights but it's Cala galdana, so it's reasonable. My preference will be Melia if I return. Rooms were extremely large with plenty of kitchen bits and fridge. There is a very good supermarket who also do excellent day sandwiches or baguettes about 5 mins walk. We found the prices here the cheapest for beer and gin. The hotel is at the top of the hill so be prepared for a walk and thigh burn! After a drink you will feel it!! The rooms were very clean and hotel staff helpful. Breakfast was plentiful enough but just basic enough to fill you until your evening meal. A reasonable priced hotel for a great area with very good walks. The best restaurants we thought were on the hill but there is 17 restaurants to choose from. The bus goes from the roundabout about 15 mins walk at the bottom of the hill. Can't fault the hotel apart from the hill, if I was there for a whole week I'd prefer next time to be on the level. A very good area though in a picturesque bay and do the must walks to the smaller coves. I could see resort being ok for a family but with young children or for able couples. Older kids or teenagers may struggle with the resort as it's quiet.
Perfect location for Cala Galdana and Mitjana

The place was very clean and bigger than we expected. They let us check in early which helped a lot. It's close enough to Cala Galdana and there's a few restaurants around the area that are pretty good. The service was great and attentive. The pool area is very nice, we couldn't help but nap a bit on its outdoor furniture. Overall a great location with great service.
Great family holiday

For a 3 star accommodation, we were very impressed with our stay. Rooms were fairly recently decorated and clean. Our initial room wasn't in the best location and the hotel Reception staff were very accommodating in assisting us in changing to a far better location within the complex. Breakfast variety was very good, with ample of options to choose from. Reuben and Co. in the 'kid's club' were excellent; the only slight negative would be that there did not appear to be quite enough sun beds on offer. Aside from that, we had a great stay and loved Cala Galdana.
