I couldn't be happier with our stay at Milky House. It's a short walk to to the ski fields at Annupuri, the rooms are decent (standard lodge accommodation). The thing that really sets Milky House apart is the food - the breakfast and dinner are chef-prepared meals of a very high quality.

Milky House is just 200m away from Annupuri so it is in an ideal location for those who wanna ski. I was there for just 2 nights and I wished that I have stayed a week instead.
The breakfasts and dinners are cooked with love and they are one of the best food. Every meal is prepared by the boss Yasuhiro and his team. This feels back at home.
Every night after dinner, you can opt to go out of the house for authentic onsen experience which Yasuhiro will drive out. We were lucky to try the Koikawa onsen which is one of the oldest. We got to experience onsen in the middle of the snow, with the backdrop of a mini waterfall.
I must go back again in summer or spring as the scenery is going to be completely different from winter.

Stayed for 2 nights at Milky House. As it was the tail end of autumn, my group of 4 were the only guests. The house is warmly decorated and we were shown around the house and were told that we could use the karaoke/video screening room. As mentioned by other guests, Yasuhiro-san will drive guests to different onsens in the evening. The meals provided are as good as any big hotels in terms of quality. The rooms on the first floor comes with ensuite bathroom but the rooms upstairs share a common toilet on the 2nd floor and a bathroom on the ground floor. This might be a little bit inconvenient to those who do not go for the onsen but since we love onsens, this is not an issue for us.
We would recommend driving in Niseko as public transport is infrequent and not well connected. You would also need your own set of wheels if you stayed in Milky House as it is not located in the town centre. Although it is near to the town, it is not walking distance.
Would recommend travellers to Niseko to stay here.

Spent here 5 nights in 2016 and 4 nights this February. The place is fantastic. The rooms are great, very clean, the decorations are awesome, the food is unbelievable and the owner is a super cool Japanese guy who speaks only a few words in English. But they have staff who speaks English, so communication is not an issue. The lodge is just 5-7 min walk from the lift, so it's very close. We'll be back again. Highly recommended.

I'd be considered a rather frequent leisure traveller but have never felt compelled to review a hotel/accommodation until my stay here at Milky House. This is no fancy 5 star hotel, but isn't a budget backpacker either. The inn is what I'd describe to be a friend's home - very welcoming, homely, clean and cosy - highly recommended for couples or families.
1. Food is fab - I'm a foodie and cannot stop raving about the food they put on the table daily using fresh Hokkaido produce. It's a sensory kaiseki every meal and the staff make an effort to share the menu so you appreciate the food better. We witness how much effort the entire staff put into every meal and am thankful, especially as the other meals we had outside of the inn near the slopes are crappy. You'd think the meals here come out of a professional kitchen except they don't, cost much less and have a lot more heart.
2. Service staff are warm and friendly, and most of them live in the inn with the owner so you really feel like you're a guest living in a friend's home. My husband dislocated his shoulder on the slopes during our stay and the staff were very helpful and concerned. The owner speaks little English, but not to worry as his staff is a mix of different nationalities fluent in English mmandarin etc. They helped with our ski rentals (cheaper to get it through them and less hassle). There's not much of a night life here but the owner organizes onsen tour every night, bringing guests to different onsens around the area. He also offered to drop us off at the nearest JR when we are checking out. I thought these little touches were really thoughtful and much appreciated, nothing like what you'll experience at the next 5* hotel.
3. Location is top notch - a short walk to the slopes at Annapuri (short by usual standards, long for me in -10deg carrying ski gear, but that's probably cos I need more exercise). You could definitely come back after a morning ski for a rest and continue after lunch without having to wait for the bus or jostle with the bus crowd.
4. Room is clean, only thing is the shared bathroom which might be a slight inconvenience. While the shared bathrooms are very clean and well maintained, I'd prefer an en suite for more privacy... But i guess I'm willing to overlook this for all the other reasons.
If the owner or any of the staff are reading this - I just want to say hi and thank you again! It's been a real pleasure and I will return!
