We took Friday off to start the weekend earlier. We booked directly with the hotel although Booking.com offered a cheaper rate. We were disappointed when we found that the balcony was directly facing the restaurant roof top and the roof top plants. The room was quite hot. The hotel provided a fan for us. The room was spacious and clean. The breakfast provided in the morning was basic with both hot and cold choices. The afternoon high tea served in the garden cafe was good and worth to try. There was no cable TV (SKY TV) available so at night we were forced to go to bed earlier. In general the hotel is not too bad but nothing special to attract us to go back again.

Staff were amazing and there to look after us at all times. The heated pool was fantastic! The hotel had a classic feel to it and was well maintained. Close to the city and lots of parking, couldn't ask for more!

Stayed in double bedroom.
Building and furniture were aged. Bathroom facility was the biggest downside of all.
Limited gowns available to guests.
Bedding and bed sheets were not clean. It was easy to find other guests' hair.
Spacious parking area.
Limited staff available.
No concierge.
Great pool area and unique sauna facility for both adults and children.

My two young daughters and I stayed here for a night after staying at the Hilton Taupo and the Ocean Towers Resort at Mt Maunganui. It was dirty (mould in bathroom, unvacumed floor, unclean table tops etc) and the staff couldn't care less. No airconditioning. Except for a huge fan above us that caused delusions of head capitation!! Its noise preceded its expectations!! Thank god!! Pools dirty. Staff rude. Id be happier at the local backpackers and prob have more money in my pockets. Never going back!!

We stayed here for one night and found the rooms to be way to hot and stuffy. There are only a few very small windows and no air conditioning which made for a very uncomfortable stay. The pools were a welcome relief from the stuffy room. My suggestion is if you must stay here to ask for a room that has a balcony, that way you can at least open the door for some fresh air. Apart for stifling heat in our room it wasnât too bad. Pretty old but well looked after. I just hope you get a nicer person on reception than we did, you might get a bit more help. :)
