My retreat

So my last minute escape, had to be away from the hustle and bustle of Kuta, near the ocean and not busy.... I think I hit all three requirements with double one villas.
So if you donât mind a long drive (about the same amount of time it took to get from Perth to Bali) Amed might be the place to head for, when i arrived I was told I was the only guest in the 6 villas and that the restaurant was open for me between 07:15 and 20:00 everyday.
Donât expect Gordon Ramsey chef style
Food, the same guys who cook clean the rooms, but the food was of good quality and reasonably priced (30/50,000 per dish)
Now before you arrive you arenât warned about the steps!! Wow if your not fully abled you might struggle to get to and from the restaurant/pool/ ocean or to the main road
Once youâve conquered them though itâs a great place to relax
Youâll need a scooter if you intend to go too far from the hotel but for $6(AUD) itâs not a bad investment
But the small negatives are outweighed by the many positives of both Double one villas and the Amed area
Perfect place, great value.

We had booked two days but stayed for 13.
This place have stunning views of the sea from nearly all rooms and from the restaurant at the beach.
Rooms are big, spacious and clean. And, yes, some small parts are a little bit tired but there is renovation going on. The entire resort is so well looked after and with beautiful plants and flowers all over.
There is no sandy beach, but the snorkeling is great.We saw turtles in front of the resort at every snorkelingtrip
A very nice pool by the beach overlooking the sea and a restaurant with excellent food at very fair prices. All the staff were very nice, helpfull and smiling and we will definately stay here again next time we are in Amed.
The perfect place to unwind.

I had read the previous reviews before booking and am happy to say that I experienced no pushy staff at all during my three day stay. Everyone was just smiles with no mention of tours or anything other than a question as to how well I slept.
I had the room at the very top of the hill which has a splendid view over the garden to the ocean. It even includes a nice lawn area.
The room itself was absolutely huge and everything was spotlessly clean. The big shower with hot water was a welcome bonus.
Yes, the steps are a bit of a trial down the hill to the restaurant and the pool but if you take them at half the pace of what you are used to, they are fine. I am 63 and it was a minor inconvenience. The restaurant was surprisingly good and the food is super fresh as well as being remarkably inexpensive. The WIFI worked fine in my room and beside the pool.
Double One has another complex a couple of kilometers away on flat ground. Each suite has the same enormous bedroom and a bonus kitchen and furnished dining area as well as a shared pool. No view but the same lovely Balinese gardens.
Very stressfull

Pros;
Fantastic views from our room ( no 1) right on ocean front.
Snorkeling right out front of hotel: definitely not the best in Amed but ideal for a quick dip and snorkel.
Motor bikes to rent from reception, no need to go looking.
Cheap rooms.
Large rooms with nice balcony.
Cons;
Place is getting a bit tired, but you get what you pay for. No complaints from us here
Staff bit pushy sometimes but easy to shut them off
No hot water in our room but did not complain as did not worry us
Overall good basic bali hotel. Oh, there are a.lot of deep steps which did not bother us but you need mobility to stay here.
