Spent 4 nights. Very good experience. Location is. Breathtaking. Upkeep very good. Exceptional team. Very polite. Food is very good. Strongly recommended for travellers without budget constraints. Definitely high priced but value for money.

The hotel was the last one on our tour of Rajasthan & itâs location did not disappoint. It forms part of the old City Palace, with regal splendour apparent, particularly in the common areas. Our room overlooked Lake Pichola & the Taj Palace Hotel, which looked magical at sunup & sundown. True the window is small but that is a feature of a Heritage building. The room itself was spacious, clean & the bathroom had a bath with shower, all spotless. The toiletries provided were also good, lavender & patchouli. The door locks are padlocks!
It was a novelty taking the golf buggy up to the Sunset terrace for breakfast & dinner. We were surprised on arrival to be offered complimentary evening meals & were happy with the food served. When one plate of naan was too spicy, it was whisked away & replaced with a plain one. Breakfast had the usual spread of Indian dishes, cereals, juices, fruits & eggs cooked to order. No complaints there & with a lovely view to gaze at, it was an enjoyable meal. Evening service could be slow though.
We spent a pleasant afternoon by the pool in the adjoining Shivas Palace Hotel, all part of the same group. If there is one downside to the Fateh Prakash, it is the paucity of seating areas both inside & out. Fortunately we had little time to worry about that!
We managed to lose a shawl on departure and a couple of hours later received a call from Narendra saying it had been found & offering to send it on. He was most helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay & would love to return.

I loved my stay here. The service from the beginning till he exit was superb. The room was huge with beautiful view of the lake. The in room service was quick. Breakfast was delicious and with a great view of the lake. Even my dinner at the restaurant was a great experience

This was the last hotel on our tour. We were upgraded to a suite which was a pleasant surprise as was the view we had. We looked straight out onto Lake Pichola and it was wonderful. The staff were friendly and helpful and there is a golf buggy shuttle from the hotel to the Sunset restaurant or up to the swimming pool which is on the upper part of the palace complex. The staff at the pool could be a little more friendly but it didn't spoil our enjoyment. In all a wonderful experience.

Our group chose the Fateh Prakash for its location in a historic palace and its views over Lake Pinchola. The views did not disappoint; they are delightful. They hotel, alas, did disappoint a bit.
It's in a remarkable building, and from the public rooms downstairs we were still optimistic. But the service, the maintenance of the individual rooms we booked (5, being a party of ten), and the restaurant, were all substandard.
We absolutely loved Udaipur. And we loved being located near the City Palace (which is itself worthwhile). We would just choose a different hotel next time.
That said, Fateh Prakash was not a disaster, just an expensive under-performer. The restaurant, Sunrise Terrace, really does offer a beautiful view at sunrise. I was up there for it twice and it was terrific. But the food and the service are second tier.
In our (premium!) room the bathroom was a bit grungy, the sink leaked, and the minibar refrigerator was so noisy we turned it off. We paid for one of the top lake-view rooms, but the structure of the windows made it hard to enjoy very much (to be fair this is a structural element management couldn't do anything about).
We had just come from a delightful experience at our hotel in Jaipur, so we were especially attentive to the several ways in which service was slower, less personal, less friendly, less helpful. I suspect this has less to do with individuals than management. Certainly, the handling of most requests we made to management left us unimpressed.
Still, we had a really good time (not least because we were with good friends). Being walking distance to City Palace is a great location. The view is sublime. And Udaipur is worth exploring (as, indeed, is Rajasthan generally).
