My colleague & I went to Semarang for business trip, and we decide to stay at Grand Candi Semarang. We are definitely choose the right hotel, excellent service & very helpful employee.

I stayed for 4 nights as I had meeting there. This is an old hotel with old facilities. It was hard to find electricity sockets in the guestroom, only one socket in the bathroom and it was for shaver only (wish they provided adaptor for hairdryer!). The lighting in bedroom was not comfortable for working, too dim. The curtain and blind in the bathroom really need to be replaced. The AC in the meeting room was not cold enough, not comfortable. The food was terrible. However the service was good.

Comfortable hotel located in luxury housing area in semarang, suited both for relaxing and business trip. The room is clean, the staffs was helpfull, not far from everywhere and reasonably cheap price

Honestly my expectations were higher simply because when I booked the website said it was 5 star. The Lobby is cool with all the "modern" artwork but the problem starts when the staff did not bother to check the room category I booked and simply put me in a room that is different. When I asked the bell attendant who showed me the room, he said he is new and doesn't know room categories. So we had to call reception who said they will check and come back to us and asked us to stay in the room but not to mess or use anything! The next day in the evening after checking through the directory and signages, we asked if there is an executive lounge because we booked a package with this included and only then they said yes but it is on a different floor from the floor we were assigned! Again another "error" by which time we couldn't be bothered any more to change!

Grand Candi is a relatively old hotel in Semarang... I stayed for the first time almost ten years ago. However, unlike most hotels in Indonesia, they have been relatively good about keeping the hotel well-maintained and renovating when necessary. I stayed over Christmas 2017, and the front lobby was absolutely gorgeous -- and quite unlike what I remembered. The room was clean, if a bit small. Nice plasma television, etc. etc., although the pot must have been five years old. Service was good and friendly. Food could have been better.
The pool facilities, however, are showing their age. I was rather concerned when I took my infant son into the wading pool.
