What People are saying

3rd Year In A Row

TODCOD on 26/01/2018 09:20

Best family hotel we've been to. We can't stop going back. So much for the kids to do and the staff are all so friendly and helpful. Our room has always had a perfect view of the pool and plenty of room for a family of 4.

Just down the hill from the hotel there is a quiet little beach that the locals use. Beautiful in the mornings.

Great for families with kids!

Galvani S on 20/01/2018 20:13

Stayed for a week in August 2018, 2 adults and 2 girls (6 and 1), half board.

Room was great. We had a family room which was quite large, with an enormous terrace facing the kids' club and Port Aventura. There are bunk beds next to the door and the bathroom, then a table for 4, the fully-equipped kitchenette (yes, there's a kettle), sofa, TV, and a separate room with 2 queen beds and a large wardrobe. Bathroom large enough, with amenities and drier.

Restaurant was great, and surprisingly there were no queues if you go at a "European" hour: that is, before 9am for breakfast and before 8pm for dinner (after that, there were some queues but not really large, despite the hotel being so big). Adults buffet and grill always great and with a lot (and we mean A LOT) of variety and plenty of food. Many waiters and cooks are checking the food at all times and replenishing when necessary. Also giving recommendations about the food, which was really appreciated. Great separate buffet for kids, at their height, with healthy choices and plastic dishes and glasses for them. Themed corners every 2-3 days (cheese, chocolate, Mexican) and and impressive dessert and ice cream buffet! The staff was really friendly and even the hotel manager was usually there to help (!!!).

Other food choices are the Italian restaurant (with takeaway pizza), the Mediterranean restaurant next to the upper pool and the lobby bar, with reasonable prices and very friendly staff (as everywhere else).

Pools were large, with enough chairs/hammocks for all (and we went there every day) We only went to the one on the higher level, the one with the pirate ship and slides, which were really fun for the kids. Lifeguards were always ready and warning people when necessary.

Animation team (Club Daisy) was one of the best aspects of our stay. There were activities in the morning and afternoon, and our older daughter "disappeared" every day from 3 to 5pm. When we went back to pick her up she was always smiling and happy, she couldn't wait for the minidisco to come, at 8pm. The songs were usually the same (which is great, kids like repetition) and the staff always had a crowd dancing with them (not only children). There are also activities for large kids, teens and adults (water-polo, archery, shooting, basketball) and also adult-oriented shows at night (dancing, acrobats, music, magic...) but we were so tired by the time they started that we didn't go to any.

Prices were OK, and you can use a special card to order drinks and food (outside the restaurant) that are then paid at checkout, which is really useful as you don't need to carry money with you. The only place you have to pay with cash (or credit card)( is the supermarket, which was surprisingly not very expensive and had lots of foods/beverages and other groceries for purchasing.

This is not a beach hotel, although it's quite close to some. Most of the guests used to take a bus (Plana) to the nearest Salou beaches, but there's one small "cala" just a 5 minute walk form the hotel and down some stairs, where we went a couple times. Salou city is some 15 minutes from the hotel and the Aquopolis water park and Port Aventura/Ferrari Land about 10 minutes by car/bus (we could see some rides from our room).

All in all, a great hotel, even in summer when occupancy is at its peak.

Just TOO loud...

Kerrups on 31/12/2017 21:50

If you want to get a good nights sleep during your holiday in La Pineda, perhaps choose a hotel other that this...Whilst I appreciate that the H10 Mediterranean Village is a “family hotel” I cannot understand why the loud and extremely annoying “entertainment” goes on until almost midnight - well past most children’s bedtime, even on holidays.

The hotel itself is perfectly adequate, although in reality it’s probably a mid quality three star rather than the four star it claims to be; in general, the hotel feels a little tired with cracked and poorly maintained exterior tiling, and a very lacklustre and disappointing steam room/sauna/indoor pool. The room itself was apparently newly renovated, and was pleasant enough at the price point we paid, although I found it odd that we had REPEATEDLY asked to be moved due to the excessive noise, and were told REPEATEDLY by reception that there were NO other rooms available - which we found surprising given the apparent lack of guests present in the pool area and at breakfast; we were then understandably disappointed and frustrated to learn on our second last evening there that the hotel was closing for the season the following week, and that most of the rooms were in fact vacant - moving us was therefore ENTIRELY possible - but apathy and perhaps laziness from a housekeeping perspective precluded us from being accommodated in a quieter room.

We were unfortunate enough to be given a room that was DIRECTLY opposite the stage, and the INCREDIBLY loud, and hugely annoying “entertainment” which was so loud that we couldn’t even hear the television in the room. It also precluded us from sleeping at any time before they decided to stop, which was usually around 11:30 -12.00 which I feel is unacceptable. Usually, there were only a handful of casual onlookers, and generally less that a dozen children - so why does the ENTIRE block facing the stage have to endure this racket for the sake of half a dozen children? Why could this not be scaled down in volume and held indoors, where it wouldn’t present such a nuisance? Every night we complained, and on several occasions they sent a man to our room who had no English, and who tried to ascertain what our problem was with a mobile phone and Google translate - to no avail.

The staff in general were very friendly, especially the older ladies at breakfast and a lovely girl in the Il Forni restaurant; the exceptions to this were the vast majority of the unwarranted number of reception staff, most of whom appeared to be doing nothing - although a lovely girl called Mirela was exceptionally kind, helpful and understanding. We also encountered a rather brusque girl in the La Masia Restaurant who barked at us that they weren’t open for another 15 minutes - instead of welcoming us, handing us menu’s and taking our order when she was finished what she was doing (incidentally, this was at about 2pm - the website clearly states this particular restaurant opens at 12 midday) Perhaps some front of house staff retraining is warranted.

The breakfast offerings were plentiful, but repetitive and of very cheap quality - we found there to be little to interest us, and generally augmented the coffee and pastries we had with a proper breakfast elsewhere.

The hotel manager, who I was within earshot of on several occasions whilst making complaints obviously thought herself too important to deal with us, or our issues. She seemed to know who we were, yet failed to introduce herself to us, or indeed to make some sort of effort to resolve these problems - which shows a grave lack of professional judgement and good management, as do her ranting replies to the vast majority of critical reviews of her hotel on Trip Advisor - her comments are quite rude in some instances, indeed, she never accepts ANY responsibility or apologies - bizarrely, she usually ends up insulting the reviewer in some way, determined to apportion blame away from herself and the hotel she “manages” - which I’m sure she’ll attempt to do once again with this review!

Hopefully somebody from the H10 Group - other than the manager of this hotel will read this and other similar reviews on this property and proactively react to the problems that guests have encountered, and hopefully take this feedback onboard.

Family holiday

We’ve been here 3 times now, very friendly staff. We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment which was big enough for 5 of us. There is a wait to get into rooms but that didn’t bother us. We just went for a wander and had lunch, there is a room at reception that you can leave your luggage in. The beds are very comfortable, double bed is huge, plenty storage space for clothes. Cleaning ladies were in every day. Balcony was big with a table and 4 chairs, plenty space to spend time there and also an airer for clothes. Kitchen had all we needed, toaster and kettle, also a cooker but we didn’t use that. We ate out each night but had lunch at the hotel which was ok. There is a pizza take away now which is nice, very short wait for our pizzas. The shop onsite has all the basics at good prices. It’s about a half hour walk to main salou along the beach path. We would visit again.

Excellent family friendly hotel

Stayed here during the summer, lovely hotel with modern and spacious rooms. Rooms were very clean and housekeeping staff were lovely we came across them a couple of times and always got a good morning and they made a fuss of the children which was lovely. Swimming pool was clean and plenty of things for children to, no rush for the sunbeds in the mornings either. Food was nice a good variety, you never got fed up and there was something for the fussiest of eaters too! Good evening entertainment for the children something different every night and gave the adults a bit of peace and quiet.
