Very friendly reception, a nice bite and drink in a characteristic loungebar and a fine and clean double room at a fair price for Amsterdam-circumstances. Close to the Leidseplein with good bars and evening entertainment. Shopping the day after was very easy and closeby. Would recommend this hotel.

We spent 4 nights at the American Hotel. It is very easy to get to using the 1,2 or 5 tram. Our room had a lovely view, overlooking a canal and there was no street noise. The room was spacious and very comfortable.
We had breakfast in the hotel and enjoyed the breakfast platter, a selection of 'broods', a little cheese and sausage and a cute little egg served in an eggcup lined with straw to make a little nest.
The staff were welcoming and helpful. All parts of the hotel were well maintained, clean and tidy. It has the air of a well run establishment where staff take a pride in their work.
The hotel is convenient for visiting the fabulous museums of Amsterdam and the city centre shops. It's definitely a good base for a trip to Amsterdam.

Great and warm staff. Highly recommended this hotel. Will use again. Rooms were perfectly cleaned and the view we had was amazing. Restaurant food was clearly prepared by caring and skilled chefs. You really must go.

Hotel and staff was amazing and knowledgeable, very helpful, room was comfortable and clean, loved the view of the area and canals. Will stay at this hotel for all my trips to Amsterdam, The deposit of 50 Euros and the 60 euro tax need to be addressed through the Trip Advisor .The Hotel and staff made my trip very enjoyable thank you

Warm friendly upper class without that looking down on you if youâre not upper class awesome place friendly staff and helpful clean amazing rooms right in the heart of the town near all amenities wow just wow
