Harivihar is a gem in a charming neighbourhood of Calicut. Make no mistakes, it is a homestay facility. Don't expect room service, pillow mints, 24-hour coffee shop and the other things that you would take for granted in a hotel or a resort. Harivihar is elegantly restored in a minimalistic style. The owners and staff maintain it impeccably and ensure your every need is taken care of like guests in their own home. There is a lot of warmth and attention to detail.
However, if you or your travel companions have restricted mobility, please be sure to ask for ground floor accommodation. The staircase are rather steep.
One suggestion to the management - even considering that the food served is vegetarian, it could do with some improvement.
Everything else is perfect!

Very peaceful, with generous spaces and gardens. Nice simple food, which we thought went well with the general ayurvedic approach. It is served in a beautiful dining room, with view and verandah looking across green lawns, with a large historic tank. There is a semi-internal well beside this diningroom. The whole place has great quality, and the staff are attentive and helpful.

We enjoyed for several days the extraordinary spirit and atmosphere of this place. The old family mansion has been renovated by Dr. Srikumar and his wife with great taste and love for the detail. You enter and you are in a different world! The aryuvedic cuisine is excellent. Yoga sessions are offered each morning. Dr. Srikumar and his wife are very kind hosts and we loved the interesting conversation with them. If you travel through Wayanad and Kerala this is a place certainly not to be missed!

Since our first visit to Harivihar, we have become regulars here. This was our 6th visit to Harivihar. We love the ambience of the place. The large, well kept rooms and bathrooms are always very well maintained with high levels of cleanliness and hygiene.
This time we were treated to an excellent fare of vegetarian treats by a new chef. The welcome 'sadhya' lunch was a lavish spread of Kerala delicacies. The dinner time spread too was excellent.
The hosts and their team never dissapoint. For us Harivihar is a home away from home.

What a beautiful surprised to find Harivihar in our way to Kerala. We missed it so much. The place is great, furnished with style and taste; the food is just great, veggie and delicious, prepared with love by the gifted cook; the rooms are confortable and the treatments are deep and useful. And above all, we were welcomed by so very nice people that we are sure it will be very difficult to find such care in our future trips. if you are looking for calm, yoga lessons, spiritual retreat and joyful people, go there eyes blind.
