Due to a massive storm my wife and I had spent the night between 1 and 2 February in our car stranded with about 115 others between Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier. After having been cut off for 27 hours without water and food authorities finally got through to us and the road to Fox Glacier Village opened up to us. Badly in need of a shower and rest I just pulled in to the first hotel I saw and paid 250 NZD for the standard room. I understood from several sources that the price had been increased on the same day from 185 to 250 NZD by decision of the manager Gladys Bargallo Garcia.
I find it reprehensible that a hotel should chose to spike its prices during a time which is difficult for everyone. I do not expect charity or favours, I would just like to pay the normal rate like everyone else.
Due to the managerial decision described above I cannot give this establishment more than a 1 out of 5 rating. Under normal circumstances I would have rated it at least 3 out of five.
The staff members in general were professional and courteous. The room was clean.

The hotel is beautiful and comfortable.
There's someone that I really want to thank to,
Moelagi Tiatia, she's really a kind lady.
I had problems and went to the reception and she was always there to help me patiently.
I think if she is here in this hotel, I would love to visit here often.

A great little hotel ideal for a night stop in the Fox glacier region. Rooms maybe small but the bed was super comfortable, better than many top class hotels.

We took the bed and full buffet breakfast room package. The 2016 refurbished rooms are very nice. The hotel is located within a few minutes wall to the Southern Alps, mountains. For dinner, we took the front desk attendantâs suggestion, and walked over to the sister property, Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier and dined at the White Pub Café and Bar. There are two Heartland hotels in Fox Glacier. They are Heartland Hotel Glacier Country, 39 Main Road, Fox Glacier 7886, and Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier, 11 Cook Flat Road, Fox Glacier 7886. I noticed that a few of the reviews on TripAdvisor posted to Heartland Hotel Fox Glacier, are actually of Heartland Hotel Glacier Country. Thus donât be misled by comparing the number of reviews for the two properties.
Walls are not very soundproof.
We received great, friendly, attentive, and helpful Kiwi service by all hotel staff.
Free wifi and complimentary guest parking.

Nice place with good varied breakfast. Friendly and helpful staff. Stayed for 2 nights. Shower did turn cold from time to time otherwise the bathroom was good. I would however prefere if used towels on hook mean "don't wash" and that soap used only 1 day didn't have to be replaced while cleaning.
