I went for a 3 day stay here early last year and treated myself to this hotel. Pretty average overall in terms of decor and amenities, but the location is fabulous. Amazing views of the island and amazing sunsets! Well worth the stay here.
The food in the restaurant is also above average with a great selection and sizeable portions, although on the pricey side.

outstanding location - although perhaps when on foot a little isolated from other local amenities. Across the board the staff demonstrated that they care about customer service. Clean but in places the decor was a little tired so couldn't quite rate as excellent, despite the outstanding breakfast and a compact dinner menu that certainly delivered.

We have just arrived home from a fantastic 3 day new year break . This is our third visit to this little gem of a hotel since may 17 . The staff are fantastic making our new year a very memorable one . We would like to thank the chef and his team for a outstanding meal over the last 3 evenings thank you chef ðð»ðð». Also would like to thank the waiting restaurant staff and the bar staff . Nothing was to much trouble for them . The staff are so friendly and take time to chat with us and made us feel so welcome and involved with the new year celebrations. The gentlemen who did the New Year's Day quiz and bingo thank you for making us laugh so much you were very funny and entertaining. If any one is looking for a perfect hotel with delicious food and a breath taking view and friendly staff I recommend this hotel to any one who wants a short break away . Thank you to all the staff at the heights . We will be definitely coming back for a fourth visit fingers crossed it be soon .

A reasonable hotel in a good location with nice views. The rooms are a little tired and we had to ask the staff to turn the heating on when we arrived as the room was cold. Overall though we had a comfortable stay and a reasonable breakfast.

Lovely patio / garden came with our ground floor room. Full Dorset fry-up breakfast, also plenty of fruit, nuts , cereals etc. Lovely bar/dining room , with beautiful view of Chesil beach. Lovely shower/bath etc. Beds very clean and comfortable. If you go on the Heights mailing list, they will e-mail you special deals. Art week-ends are available for keen artists. The staff are very helpful, and curteous. Evening meals are lovely, and much better than the local pubs in Portland. I have stayed here twice, and will be back.
