Don't expect much!

Our family of four stayed in this hotel for a week. It was a package deal we bought at a low price.
The room we got was decent, but most other things about the hotel were not good. There is very little staff. In the evenings, one person is waiting the tables in the restaurant, attending the reception, and tending the bar. This means a very long wait for getting any kind of service.
Regarding the restaurant, the kitchen also seems understaffed. We had dinner every evening there (prepaid as part of our stay), and we usually waited 45 minutes just to get the starter. It was not uncommon to spend almost two hours getting through the three-course meal. The food is quite bland, overcooked vegetables (sometimes with a little sand). The childrens menu includes mostly fastfood and no proper food.
Somehow the hotel managed to only clean our room once. We asked for it several times, but this was just ignored. The staff only speaks German.
The hotel has free wifi, but it does not work in the rooms, and it is extremely unstable and slow.
The hotel is rated as four star, but does not deserve this.
Excellent place, high quality menu

This hotel is a real gem! We spent there one week last year during October 2013. With excellent directives you won't miss the hotel even though it is situated in the heart of the forest. The parking lot was free of charge. Breakfast was substancial and well organised in the buffet style. The room was large. The park area around - breathtaking, especially in autumn. We recommend this place due to the quiet location, helpful service and surprisingly varied menu.
Wonderful hotel, but it does need more visitors!

This is one of the nicest hotels I know. It is quirky in various ways - it is hidden in the woods, it has low staffing levels (though they are very helpful and friendly), and it won't suit the Ramada or Hilton jetsetters. But it suited me - I appreciate a good sized room, with a balcony overlook a bit of parkland, an excellent restaurant (but get there before 8pm!), and a well-stocked buffet style breakfast. The bedrooms have baths, which is not so common these days, and I like the impression that I have the hotel to myself. Suelzhayn was in East Germany, bang on the border, and this place was kept as a special retreat for high-ups who wouldn't leap over the fence. (Some of the first boundary fenceposts are still in the garden). other buildings in Suelzhayn were not so lucky and the village has a lot of abandoned buildings.
The decor is modern and very little expense was spared - it is smart and clean. Yes - you might need to find the receptionist when you check in (walk straight on and call into the kitchen area), but so what? If you want to have someone permanently in reception, then that means an extra salary needs to be added to the bills.
It is a great spot for visiting the Harz area, Nordhausen and Sondershausen - Leipzig is not so far off either for a day trip. Yes, the staffing levels are very low, but, sadly, so are the number of visitors. I stayed here for a year, on and off, and never had a single problem. I can honestly say that nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff - but do accept that they work long hours and want to get to bed!
The top floor has a large conference facility, and the basement has a sauna (not always available).
It is a very comfortable hotel in a beautiful spot, with a first class restaurant - come here if you have a romantic streak - stay well away if you want a Hilton clone.
Magical

I had a long-term contract in Nordhausen, and so stayed in the Park Hotel for a year. It was magical - the rooms were large, they practically all had baths, the service was wonderful and friendly, and the food was first-rate (but be warned - the restaurant shuts at 8pm). This is the perfect spot to stay if you want to visit the Harz Mountains - I had friends for holidays and it is a delight to come home to. From here it is easy to visit Goslar, Wernigerode, Quedlinburg, Braunlage, stunning Stolberg, the Cistercian abbey at Walkenreid, and all the lovely villages that make up the Harz. It is very convenient for places a bit further afield, like Muhlhausen, with its walled city, Sondershausen with a lovely castle, the Kyffhauser, Bad Frankenhausen with its leaning tower, Erfurt, and even Leipzig or Buchenwald. Not to forget the V2 underground factory at Nordhausen, of course, or the delightful steam railway up the Brocken (go to Ilfeld station and pay on board the train).
I cannot recommend this place enough for anyone seeking a luxury hotel at an affordable price. Oh - it is a long way up the lane - don't think you are lost!
Seems that nothing had been done in years

The hotel is in the middle of nowhere. The park area around it is nice, parking is for free. When we wanted to check in, there was nobody, then the woman who vacuumed the floor was also the receptionist and the next morning she was serving breakfast. The room was old and very small, the bathroom very narrow. The hotel itself seems very old. The breakfast was okay but nothing more, no service at all. So, no 4 Stars and the price of the room is to high.
