What People are saying
lack of seating
happywanderers50 on 10/02/2018 17:23
the hotel, its location and the food were very good indeed. as were the staff. the only niggle we had was there was insufficient seating in the main lobby. The weather during out stay was terrible - cold, wet and very windy. it was impossible to sit outside and there were not enough seats in the lobby. also, for the entertainment in the evening there was not enough seating. obviously, nothing could have been done about the weather but a few dozen stacking chairs in the lobby area would have been good. people had to either stay in their rooms or sit on the stairs.
Beware

The hotel is well situated and near to the marina so well as the harbour. This means that there are plenty of shops bars and restaurants to choose from close to the hotel. You can choose to go all inclusive, halfboard or b&b. We had the option of a deluxe stay or standard. We had the deluxe rooms as we are here until the end of Feb. This entitles you to a separate restaurant, a pool area as well as quite rest room away from the noise if you wanted it. The restaurant provided you with a varied diet with continental as well as Asian dishes, some cooked on demand. If you were early enough the precooked dishes were hot enough. Salads and fruit are fresh and well presented. The staff polite and helpful. My concern however is about the hotels ability to cope with something which is not the norm for this area. It is quite cold here at the moment and the hotel has no heating in the rooms and will only provide you with extra blankets. However you still need to get up and shower in the morning which is not a pleasant experience in the cold. Using the rooms facilties is not something you would do. The weather does not look like improving over the next week or two so we are looking at a cold stay at night. This may well influence me with a reluctance to book here in the future. I came here to get away from the cold and feel that a 4* hotel should provide the necessary heating to make our stay a pleasant one.
A little disappointing

I stayed at Hesperia Playa Dorada for four nights as a solo traveller. I was all inclusive deluxe and have to say I was disappointed by the service which I received as a lone traveller when I came to meal times. I was frequently ignored when it came to ordering drinks with my meal. As couples were shown to a table I was left to find my own table and therefore no one noticed I was there to take a drinks order. At one point I came back to my table having got some dessert to find a waiter trying to put it with another table to make a bigger table. Travelling alone is not so usual these days so I would have expected people to be aware of this and treat people travelling alone as couples are treated.
Also the hotel rooms are freezing at night. Due to the open design of the corridors the wind comes through the bottom of the doors making it really cold in the rooms. The rest of the stay was good, clean rooms and good facilities including the wellness centre. The reception staff were friendly.
Return visit to Hesperia

We have stayed now at Hesperia many times, most recent from 14th to 25th Jan this year, since about 2003. We have seen changes over the years, most for the better, the staff, some of whom I recognise from year to year, are very friendly and helpful. This is the second year we have stayed in 'Delux' and love the new little 'quiet/breakfast room' that this part offers as an extra. The location is perfect for getting onto the beach and for the lovely flat walking that area offers. The hotel is very well run and clean and I love the new addition of the coloured lighting on parts of the outside of the building at night. The Delux dining room is great, lots of choice to suit all needs, bedrooms are spacious and well kept. Back in 2003 or thereabouts, this hotel was really 'at the end of the road' and the only direction to go was into the Old Town, the addition of all the building to the Marina and beyond has added much more variety for walking and getting about and enjoying the fresh air, just writing about this, I can't wait for our next winter break there! The hotel is situated on the sea front with very easy access to the marina, local restaurants and bars. The hotel restaurant has a good buffet breakfast and evening dinner with plenty of choice for everyone needs.
