What People are saying

A good location

Bezzer1 on 10/02/2018 11:33

Apart from the poor service at check-in our stay at this hotel was pleasant. We arrived at 1pm and was told that our room would be ready early. We hung around and no one came to get us. At 3pm we had to go back to reception and ask if our room was ready!!
The hotel is well located on the harbour front and you get good views. The rooms are clean and spacious and the more expensive ones have a balcony. The bathrooms are well equipped and the beds are large and comfy.
Breakfast was extensive in the morning, again with lovely views over the harbour.
We did not get into Auckland because we arrived mid-storm and it was throwing it down with rain for the whole day!! But there are some nice restaurants around to eat in near the hotel.
We only needed somewhere to stay for the night and the Hilton met our needs.

Great way to start our travkes

Taxi from airport as promised by the concierge and arranged before our arrival. Check in welcomed us and made sure we had traveled well (all early hours of the morning but no different service)
Room- king deluxe harbour view WOW! Upgrade it's so worth the outside space and the view not to mention spacious room with huge bed and separate bath and shower.
Slight issue resolved with 5 minutes by housekeeping- just ask and it will be done
Breakfast- again WOW the view, the friendly staff an absolute credit and the choice of foods unbelievable. I'm not sure I've had the pleasure of such a great experience of dining before.
Loved the stay, felt comfy and welcome
Great location to see the city and sights, plus on the harbour for any boat trips.
Cruise ships- well yes they do come and you can see in their rooms but it's only for a day and there is plenty of prior warning. I'm sure if you asked the hotel they could advise the best room for the dates of travel and you wouldn't be disappointed
We will be back, may be a few years to save up again but we will, sad to leave on departure day

Cruise start/stop point

SPINDOCDENVER on 08/02/2018 15:33

This hotel has so many nice features, but a few maddening ones. We only stayed one night and it happened to be a night when two cruise ships had pulled in, literally, in the harbor next door. The lobby was a madhouse and naturally rooms weren't guaranteed to be ready until 3 pm (although, in fairness, we got a phone call an hour ahead telling us that it was ready.) The biggest problem for us -- passengers on one of the aforementioned ships -- was that we docked too close to take a taxi to the hotel (cab drivers would just laugh at the idea of such a short trip) but it was the equivalent of a good four city blocks -- a long way to walk dragging four enormous pieces of luggage. The hotel hasn't addressed this -- we called in advance to ask if we could bribe a bellman to come get us in the hotel van or something -- but we finally found a dock porter who was willing to accompany us and the free carts the dock provides but doesn't allow off the property. Porter comes and returns the carts to the dock. Problem solved. The hotel itself is fine -- the bathroom seemed dimly lighted, but that may just be after comparing it to the very brightly lighted bathroom on board the ship. Our room had a nice big balcony which allowed us to stare directly into the staterooms of the ship parked next to us (and vice-versa, you may want to note.) We had excellent and very helpful service from Fred the bellman. The concierge wasn't overly friendly but exceedingly helpful in arranging airport transport the next day. The hotel manager -- whom we met just by happenstance -- is extremely competent and completely focused on his guests. We ate dinner in the dining room -- "Fish" is the name -- and the food and service were excellent. Breakfast the next morning: also good food but poor service and a big mistake on the bill that wasn't found until it was too late to do anything about it. Lovely views from the terraces. Bring your electrical adapters, cruisers -- outlets are not U.S. as they may have been on your ship. Plenty of touristy gift shops nearby. Unfortunately, bed in our room was too soft -- might also be in comparison to our excellent (and firm) mattress on-board. Oh -- if you're part of a group staying on different floors, you're in for a big surprise if you need to visit the room of another guest on a different floor -- elevator security cards only allow you onto the floor where you are registered.

Wish I could have stayed longer.

I stayed here for one evening recently and wished I could have stayed longer. From reception, to the lounge, to the restaurant, the staff are all friendly and helpful. My room was clean and modern. I had a partial view of the harbor which was nice. The harbor view from the restaurant was as good as one can get. The location is handy to local restaurants and amenities. When I return to Auckland in the future, this will definitely be my first choice.

Lovely hotel, good location

Dawn A on 06/02/2018 12:51

Arrived after a long flight from the UK to this lovely hotel right on the waterfront. Staff were very helpful, room spotless, nice bathroom (including a bath) and amazing views over the water.
Breakfast room was in a great location overlooking the water and the choice and quality of the food was very good.
The only reason for not giving this 5* is the fact that if a cruise boat moored at the jetty next to the hotel you would have no view.
