Found this place on line for about $100 a night and not disappointed at all. Located on the main drag across from the beaches and within walking distance to many shops and restaurants.
Along with another couple we spent one night there, shared a bottle of wine in a cozy outdoor patio by the pool and had an excellent meal in the elegant hotel restaurant. The staff in this little place was very friendly and attentive. Although our rooms were a bit small they were fitted with modern conveniences and apparently the hotel had undergone recent renovations.
The area is very touristy and still busy for the time of year we were there but according to the management many establishments close down after October so if you're traveling off season I'd check to see if the hotel stays open.
Couldn't recommend a nicer little hotel for the money and pleasing dining experience. There is a gated carport type parking area adjacent to the hotel which is complementary and they offer free wifi.

Overlooking the beach where El Cid was made, rooms are very comfortable, food is excellent and so is the service. Highly recommended.
Another benefit of this hotel is that they also allow for people with dogs

Perfectly located right on the beach, this hotel is clean and has a rustic charm . There is secure locked parking. We had a room at the back of the hotel with a balcony which was clean and spacious with a good sized shower room. There is also an outside swimming pool. And the beach is right outside. Breakfast was very good . I would recommend this hotel to friends and also I would return again.

This year we stayed again in Hosteria del Mar. Whereas in the past we always stayed there in June-July this year we decided to go later in the Summer Season. We thought it would be less crowdy in September than in July or August. That was a miscalculation because in that period there is the Peñiscola Festival!
Nevertheless, as always our stay was very pleasant and it was nice to see all the well known faces again.
One change from my 2015 review: dogs are no longer wellcome in the hotel. Unfortunately in the past dogowners misbehaved, which caused guests to complain and the management to decide that dogs are no longer admitted at the hotel. Pity, because for us this was certainly one of the attractions of this hotel, sine our beagle loved to stay there!

The hotel is located on the beach. Just cross the street and you are at the beach. The rooms are clean and comfortable with beautiful sea view. We were sleeping well with the sound of the waves. Good breakfast and friendly and helpful staff.
