A truly delightful Gite

Unfortunately due to time constraints we were only able to spend one night in the Gite. We wish it could have been more! The Gite is in a wonderfully peaceful position, and is most impressive. We received a very warm welcome from Yves & Louise, and were delighted to be shown into a very large and impressive room that was beautifully furnished (as is the rest of the home) in traditional style. We had looked around for somewhere to visit for an evening meal, and had not been too impressed with what we had seen, but Louise told us about a seafood restaurant that we would surely love, and telephoned to make a reservation for us. She was right. The food was great!
We slept very well and really enjoyed a cooked breakfast served at a big table with the other guests to keep us company.
The conversation was good, and we were so enjoying ourselves that we were most reluctant to leave and continue our journey.
Thank you Louise and Yves. You were delightful hosts and your Gite is wonderful.

An amazing and comfortable place to stay. Every part of this B&B is decorated to perfection and makes you feel like you're home.
The beds were comfortable and the rooms as well.
Breakfast was AMAZING!! A full breakfast that made staying here a luxury as well as a pleasure!!

A Whale of a Time

After our fifth stay with Louise and Yves we are home safe and sound but this morning I had to make my own breakfast!! The memories of our time with them and the wildlife of the region will have to last until we can return. This very upscale log cabin home is a jewel just a couple of minutes off #138 outside Longue-Rive. It has all the amenities, nestled next to a salt marsh and a huge sand beach. After having an excellent and varied breakfast overlooking the marsh you can walk either the marsh or the beach for excellent birding and vistas of the ocean and the nearby town. As always Louise and Yves made arrangements for us to spend time with the local whale research group and we spent many wondrous hours out in the zodiacs watching the whales, seals and birds of the estuary. While you will find numerous B & B options when you visit this area, you will find none with as warm and welcoming an atmosphere as the large log cabin style home operated by Yves and Louise. We can't wait til the next time!!

my girl friend and i went to this region two years ago , and it was amazing . the propery alone of baie du soleil couchant is so beauitful right on the st lawrence river, can walk for a great distance on the beach and see ducks and wild life in the ponds in front of this log home.
The breakfast was french , and the owners and so helpful in finding areas for us to explore.
We went whale watching , spent time on the shore lines , and swam in a fresh water lake inbetween tadoussac and escomins on the hwy 138. beautiful.
My husband and i are returning to baie do soleil couchant this summer 2012 .
