Too far and everything closed out of season

Booked this with a BA top recommended sale. The apartment was clean and spacious. The hotel had all but shut down, bar the reception, for the winter - there was no restaurant, bar or facilities. It was like a ghost hotel with no lights or atmosphere, I didnât see one other guest and it appeared as if nearly all the apartments were empty. The nearest supermarket was a 30 minute walk. I had booked for four nights but after the first night decided to move on and stayed in a different hotel that was far more central.
Beautiful hotel but thats it due to location and season :(

It took around 35 minutes to get to the hotel from the airport.
The reception had very nice staff and the reception itself looked very nice. It was dark when we arrived so we couldn't see outside. We were staying in a one-bedroom apartment and we walked through the front door and was like waw!! It was honestly bigger than my flat in the UK. The rooms were big and very clean and couldn't fault the place so far.
The next day we got ready and asked what time the transfer was to take us down to the old town and the reception said that it did not run due to the season however they were more than happy to phone a taxi for us. Also, at that time the reception said that they could check availability in their sister hotel which was more central which would suit us better. So, we got the taxi to the old town and we walked to their sister hotel to ask if they had been in contact and they said they had and we got changed hotels no problem.
This hotel is truly beautiful and has a gym, indoor pool, tennis courts etc but none of the restaurants were open and was not near anything at all (no word of a lie- we had to phone a takeaway on the first night because it's around 4km to the nearest shop). The restaurant was shut due to seasonality but in a hotel so remote? 9
We also bumped into a couple that said they walk about 10 miles a day however that does not suit us as I was with my nana.
Average Aparthotel in the Olhos dâÃgua area

Stayed in this aparthotel while we had family visiting only using the place to shower and sleep as we were most of the time out!
Indoor swimming pool and gym. They also have a bar and a restaurant but we never used it.
As it was off season the price was very competitive and it was also very quiet...the surroundings are quiet and off the road which make this place a pleasant one even in high season one is made to believe due to its privileged position.
The beaches, bars and restaurants are relatively close as it is the hustle and bustle of Albufeira!
A bit to far.

Everything was good at the hotel/apartment but it was a bit far out of town and not walkable unless you like a hike (reflected in the price). Courtesy bus good (although the driver needs to cheer up) but does not run in the evening, no public transport so have to rely on taxis. Hotel reception not very informative but you got the basics out of them, having to pay for ping pong for kids was a bit OTT, foyer very good, apartment very good, pool and patio fabulous, gardens and recreation areas very good, breakfast buffet good, dinner buffet average (can eat better and cheaper in town), Cleaning very good. I think its a great place if you have children under 10
Stayed March 16

Although we had booked the hotel shuttle it didn't turn up so it wasn't a good start. Since found that an uber would have been a lot cheaper anyway. When we arrived we were very surprised, pleasantly at the first impression. Reception staff was nice enough but not very present. Our room was very clean and roomy. With modern facilities. The TV however had no English channels and was an old crt with only scart connections so we couldnt hook anything up to it. There is no wifi unless your close to reception, so be prepared. Our room had steps straight down to the pool which was lovely. The fountain came on every night from 8pm for 2 hrs and can be nosey if your relaxing on the patio, which has table and chairs. There is a bar, which serves drinks and food poolside a stride away from your apartment. We ate in the restaurant once, the food was OK but I couldn't eat there every night, so take that into consideration if all inclusive. There is a shuttle that takes you to Albufeira every hr from 10am with occasion breaks right up to 11pm which is a definite bonus as the hotel is quite remote. It does 2 stops so you can shop and be done by the time it returns from the beach. That service alone makes the whole experience value for money, as well as making it easy of you want to eat out. All other trips we took an uber which was never more than 5 euros for us.
