Spend a week by the marina and you can stay at Hotel Arts, now part of the Rita C group you can expect 5 star treatment. At your doorstep are some interesting restaurants many designed for the tourists, further along the promenade are Pacha and Opium.
The path to your room is likened to many other 5 star venues with a reception and secondary welcoming area, good security measure. The Suite is well designed and caters for larger groups so they can double up. I enjoyed a corner view with a guest WC and a tidy lounge area, the bathroom was well designed with bath, shelved shower and separate WC. The views across the bay and into the city is beautiful allow for a little light from the shade and you will be welcomed with a beautiful sunrise and sunset. Lean against the window and enjoy the bustle below.
Thanks to the house keeping team for a good turn down service, keep the smiles and the regular "buenos tardes" coming. The food was also very good, the variety at dinner and breakfast was also excellent. The upper apartments were also very impressive with an additional concierge service.

This is a top of the range 5 star hotel and for the most part exceeded the high standards you would expect. The Hotel is on the marina but only 15 minutes walk from the city centre and right on the beach.
I was on the 32nd floor so as well as a beautiful, comfortable room I had a spectacular view of the marina and city. My room was very clean, with the turn down service making it feel like it was dressed every time I left! They even put out a glass for water by the bed and my book.
Public areas are beautiful with outside dining , and a lovely pool area with loungers and hammocks. Food was outstanding, especially breakfast where there was the biggest range of meats and cheese I think I have ever seen, as well as cooked options, fruit and pastry.
There are hundreds of staff, very attentive and all friendly and polite. I kept getting a strong smell of cigarette smoke in my bathroom which was handled quickly and effectively.
There was very little not to like about it- they did seem to have a challenge with their aircon, I had smoke smells in my bathroom and there was a smell of sewers in one of the lifts. Barcelona is a city with a reputation for low level crime and the hotel could do a bit more to make the area around it feel more secure.
Overall I really liked it and would recommend it as a treat for anyone.

We spent a good four nights at the Ritz Carlton's Hotel Arts Barcelona. As mentioned in the title, this hotel is almost perfect.
Room:
The room was comfortable and clean. We had a panoramic view of the beach and the W hotel. Had really good sleep in that bed. Space wise, it's one of the more decent sized European hotels. One downside is there aren't many outlets for electronic devices.
Bathroom:
The shower is a human carwash! I LOVE IT!!!! The rest of the bathroom is spacious with the water closet having it's own space. I prefer this.
Club Lounge:
The club lounge is a nice and comfortable space, and the service was welcoming and warm. I like the decor. While we were there, it was open from 7:00 am to 11:00 pm. Although the website said 24 hours, this was not so The food offerings were pretty good, and the selection of alcohol was better than most club lounges I've been to. Would I pay for it again...maybe?
Concierge:
Above and beyond. The concierge were so helpful. First, they recommended, and made reservations for us, to a really good seafood restaurant on our night of arrival. It was one of the best seafood experiences (meaning fresh and simple) that we had in Barcelona. Second, they helped me fax a form internationally when I had no way of faxing it (read below, iMac lounge closed). Third, the tours they recommended were the highlight of our trip to Barcelona! On top of that, they were so nice and got to know what we prefer and recommended accordingly.
Business Center:
The iMac lounge was useless. We attempted to use this business center three times.
First, I tried to make reservations to Park Guell. Nobody was there, so I waited, said in a louder voice "Hello, anybody here?" Walked around a bit and waited for another 5-7 minutes. FINALLY someone showed up.
Second, I needed to send a fax internationally. When I arrived, nobody was there. I had to walk all the way back to concierge and they sent the fax for me. The front desk said "they will be open soon". It was already 9:30 am, and they were supposed to be open already, but was not.
Third, on our last day, I tried to print our boarding passes. There was NO ONE working while we attempted to use it. I was able to find someone from a different department and he sent someone from the check in desk to help. When she got there, she was not able to get into the iMac computers, and asked me to send her the stuff I needed printed. There is no wifi so I couldn't send a message to her to help me print. So I had to walk back to the check in desk and she helped me print my boarding pass at check in.
Further, the iMac lounge was so far removed from everything, making the walk troublesome, especially when we weren't successful three times in four days!
Lastly, if you were to close the iMac, please let people know by a sign or something. I would ask someone and she would go "it will be open soon", or "I will get someone there, let me help you in the meantime," and "I will make sure someone is there after...." I came back in 30 minutes, 2 hours, later that day, the next morning, and that afternoon. Nobody was there.
Location:
If you prefer a nice view and to talk to the action, then this is your place. It's further away from the Gothic Quarters, Las Ramblas and Passeig de Grà cia (where most tourists like to frequent). We walked along the catwalk to dine in the "La Barceloneta" area as the food were tastier and more affordable. Most restaurants around Port Olympic were pricier, and I noticed the seafood isn't as fresh.
Note: We only had dinner twice at the restaurants around the hotel and both times the servers told us that "gratuity" and "service" was not included in the final bill. We dined four times in the "Le Barceloneta" area and three times at Las Ramblas and neither of those places mentioned gratuity. We tipped everytime we dined, but being reminded left a sour taste and negative impression.
Overall:
We had a good stay with some minor hiccups. It was more annoying if anything. But it didn't detract from our enjoyment of Barcelona. I would recommend Hotel Arts if you want to stay by the beach and don't mind being further away from the action. There are some night time activities at Port Olympic, and the catwalk is nice.

My husband and I stayed at the Arts Hotel for a week at the end of December/early January. This was our first time to Barcelona and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The hotel staff was super friendly and responsive, particularly the manager and concierges, who helped me plan my daily experiences. Our room was clean with a lovely water view as well as a view of "the fish" sculpture. While not central to the city, it was easy to walk or cab to the various landmarks and restaurants. It's worth booking a spa appointment in the gorgeous facility on top of the building. Soak in the jacuzzi while gazing out to sea. I would also recommend booking dinner at the hotel Michelin 2 restaurant Enoteca Paco Perez - a superb culinary experience!

We stayed at the Hotel Arts in early December and almost every aspect of this stay was perfect. The club lounge experience, particularly with Chiara, was excellent. Every time we encountered a staff member, from housekeeping to the spa staff to the doormen, they were always waiting with a smile and a friendly greeting. There is a casino basically connected to the hotel, which was great, and it really is a beautiful property. While it is outside the city center, this hotel would be great in the summer as it is so close to the beach. The only negative is the smell of the carpets on our floor. It really was a jarring smell whenever we stepped off the elevator, and was not what you expect from a 5 star hotel. We even stopped on a few different floors to see if it was the same on every floor, and it was only on ours (I believe we stayed on the 32nd floor). Not enough to ruin the experience, as everything else truly was top notch, but worth noting to the hotel.
