My wife and I have just returned from a coach trip to Valkenburg for the Christmas markets and stayed again at the Hotel Atlanta in room 14. As before, we can't fault the hotel. The reception on our arrival was welcoming and all the staff spoke excellent English. Our room was clean and a good size. The bathrooom again was clean and was well supplied with towels and the usual bath/shower soap and cream. A hairdryer was next to the mirror, The beds were supremely comfortable and room, at the back of the hotel, was quiet and we weren't troubled at all by noise from the rest of the hotel. The meals were well presented and hot and we didn't have to wait long for them in the restaurant. The breakfasts were one of the best we've encountered in the many hotels we've stayed at. An excellent and plentiful choice of food and drinks. We've booked already for the same trip next year and are looking forward to another stay at this hotel. The only comment i would make is there could be more flat surfaces in the bathroom, such as another shelf, on which to put one's bath bits and pieces! My wife always grabs the only shelf there is! The hotel has a lift.
Disappointing

The location was good, the stuff was good. The breakfast was good enough. However, the hotel is very outdated. It is NOT 4* hotel, fairly 2*. We booked the double room for 2 nights but stayed only one, since we were very disappointed. The room was very small and old, the bathroom was a bit smelly. There is no ventilation in the room, only one window. The main reason we checked out a day earlier â unbelievable level of the noise. We heard every step and talk in the corridor (which woke us up at 2:30 am !), every loud move from the upstairs. There was very loud noise from the pipes if someone takes a shower/flushes the toilet, and (! we heard the sound of someoneâs urinating probably from the room upstairs). I think itâs not acceptable if you want take some rest in the room. I would NOT recommend this hotel, there are a lot of other options in Valkenburg. This hotel needs a good renovation and noise isolation.
Shaky start but in the end was good hotel in great location!

We came as a big coach party of 48 and all stayed at this Hotel on a 4 day half board basis with Harry Shaw. Initially I was a bit concerned as the manager seemed in complete chaos when we all arrived as if he couldn't cope. The list of room requests went awry and single people were given double rooms and couples or friends given Tiny rooms with a shared bed! Fortunately I complained and insisted on a twin room as we were given a tiny double room and I was travelling with my elderly mother. So after room change we were much happier as the only room left was a family room with two bedrooms so we probably had a bigger room than most. The hotel is family run typical rather old fashioned style and looks like it may be due a refurbishment as rooms a bit dated. However, that said it was spotless the cleaner made beds every day and we had fresh towels. The bar is nicely decorated and pleasant as is the restaurant area. The food I felt was very good and beautifully presented every night. Drinks quite reasonable too and the breakfast was a typical continental with some hot food such as scrambled egg and sausages. The location was brilliant right by the castle walls short walk to the chair lift or a ten min walk up to the market caves. All in all a really friendly family run hotel they allow pets as well if your travelling with a dog.
Excellent long weekeend there.

My wife and I stayed for three nights on a coach trip to the Christmas markets. This was our sixth year at this hotel. Our room was right near the top at the back, number 44. It was a good size as was the bathroom. Our only complaint about the bathroom, which is common to so many other bathrooms we've experienced is the lack of shelf/flat surfaces on which to put all our 'bits and bobs'. There was just one small shelf which my wife commandeered. Another shelf would have been so useful! But it was was clean and the hair dryer was handy next to the mirror. The room was clean and well maintained and, being at the back, was quiet. No noise at all during the night. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly as they have been every year we've stayed there. They all understood and spoke excellent English. The food in the restaurant, although not generous, was tasty and well presented. Plenty of choices for breakfast. The wifi is free with a password readily available from the reception desk. Also, unlike other hotels we've stayed in around the world, there are English channels on the TV! The hotel has a lift. Altogether a very satisfying stay again at this hotel. We'll be booking again for a similar weekend next year for the markets again staying here. Thank you, all the staff there.
Good location but low quality food

We have booked two nights via Hotelbon. We only had to pay for the dinners. We have considered to eat outside the hotel as it was of very low quality. There were 7 tables booked those evenings and the waiter used exactly the same words on each table while serving the food and removing the empty plates. Like a programmed robot. The PIN machine was out of order so we had to pay cash
