So i came here on special occasions with my family. And we always ordered the oxtail soup. Both of my parents says that this hotel served the oxtail soup since a long time ago and they still managed to served the best oxtail soup in the town (probably in the best in the entire planet)

After travelling for the past 18 months and nearing the end of our adventure we decided to book the club suite at hotel Borobudur!
Whilst it was a little more expensive what we got in return was value for money. From the time we booked in the reception staff in the club lounge surpassed our expectations. They were very efficient, and had our booking processed and in our room within minutes.
Afternoon teas and evening drinks are offered free as part of the club suite package, which made it a nice touch to our stay.
We utilised the hotel pool, a high Olympic size pool, absolutely fantastic, along with the poolside staff.
We also visited the Chinese restaurant attached to the hotel, and had a very nice meal.
The location of the hotel is more in the business/government district so if are inclined to do some shopping therapy then you will have to catch a taxi the many malls in Jakarta. For us it was about enjoying the hotel and itâs facilities.
To the management and staff at Hotel Borobudur thank you for making our stay a memorable one, we will return when back in Jakarta!

I had stayed at Hotel Borobudur. Being a vegetarian, I usually have very few choices for breakfast. However Ms Shelly from the supervisory staff took utmost care to ensure that I have a proper meal, all during my stay. if at all I stay at Borobudur again, it will be because of the excellent service rendered by Ms Shelly !

improve food pricing to make it more competitive. improve internet accessibility which was intermittent during my stay. had to call the front desk a few time to fix connectivity issues. gym is too far away from the room and in a separate building. there's plenty of space in the main building to have another gym room.

I was looking for a short staycation to focus on my writing. This is my first stay at The Borobudur. I have always been attracted to old big hotels with big gardens as urban oasis, and The Borobudur delivers. Walking/jogging around the track will make you forget for a while that you are in this crazy city called Jakarta. The garden is lush, with big tall old trees that seem to preserve time. Kudos to whoever managing the gardens because they are impeccable.
The Borobudur also has Olympic sized pool, a rarity among newer hotels in Jakarta.
Sure, the rooms feel like time travel to the 90s. But it's okay. They are clean and functional and comfortable. Anyway, The Borobudur is not the place to stay in the room. Unless you need to write like I do.
So it is ALMOST perfect, with one glaring flaw. The breakfast. If you have been to many 5-star hotels, then this is substandard. The choices leave you wanting, and the staff responsiveness is questionable. Several dishes are left empty and this is only 7 am. I need to point them out to the staff for them to realize it. Breakfast is definitely the weakness here.
Overall, I am happy to stay here, given the overall value I get (newer hotels cost you more). If you are looking for a solace in the Big Durian, if you love gardens and massive pool, and a quiet time for yourself. Well this is the place.
