Very good accommodation, big clean rooms with a boutique character. The location is very central and easy to access. The staff, without exception, have been very friendly and helpful. A delightful city centre hotel which is a redesign change from the big chains. Would stay here again.

Hotel DeBrett is the perfect location when visiting Auckland! Located on a quiet street the Hotel is near EVERYTHING - sites, restaurants, shopping and transportation.
The staff is very helpful and pleasant. The rooms are updated and the Hotel has a cool mid century modern feel. Bathrooms are lovely. Disregard negative past comments regard the breakfast. It is accurately described as petite but we found the servings adequate. You can order more food at an additional cost. We stayed in a lovely suite on the first level and found it surprising quiet even though the room faced the street.

Our first ever visit to Auckland, we took a private taxi from the airport to the centre of Auckland where this lovely hotel is located. That way we avoided having to find parking. We picked up our hire car locally on our last morning. The hotel is small and quiet. The decoration does not conform to ânormalâ standards and is a little quirky in its design - we absolutely loved it. The food is great and the staff are lovely, very friendly and helpful. We would have no problem recommending this hotel to anyone.

Excellent on all accounts. Staff very helpful and went out of their way to be helpful. Room excellent. Seating area with 2 comfortable chairs and small round table.mini bar if wanted to use it, and a superb bathroom with bath and shower. My only comment here was that hand towels were hung on rail at side of toilet. I think a small handrail in between the 2 sinks would have been more appropriate and hygienic.
Central location, close to shops, restaurants (although hotel has an excellent restaurant itself), and harbour front.
Definitely recommend and would stay here again without hesitation. Thatâs if someone will pay our flights from U K to come back.

We finished off our two-week visit to New Zealand with a 3-night stay at Hotel DeBrett.
Overall:
-our room, 2.3 (trying to be too hip with the decimal point thing) had two stories. You enter into a large sitting room with a pull-out couch, small table, two chairs, a side chair, a wardrobe and a small 3/4 bath. The most prominent feature is a 15 foot spiral staircase leading up to the main bathroom and bedroom which, I suppose are really one floor up. Definitely a most unconventional room. I liked and didnât like it at the same time.
Pros:
-modem updated bathroom with both rain shower and sturdy handheld shower head
-super friendly front desk staff
-separate A/C controls for up stairs vs downstairs Worked quietly and quite effectively
-room was VERY quiet
-bed was comfortable although I would have like a foam pillow-seems all the pillows weâve had across the country are quite firm.
-good housekeeping with nightly turn down
-great location with respect to harbor and restaurants
Cons:
-unlike all our other hotels and lodges we visited, instead of a full, cooked hot breakfast, the included breakfast was merely a skimpy continental -boo
-you have to drag your suitcase up (and later down) the somewhat narrow carpeted spiral stairs-not a place for older guests-use care
-bath amenities rather pedestrian
Bottom line this is a hip, stylish boutique property in a choice location with helpful staff. We enjoyed the stay.
