The hotel is on the beach and my room had views from the Lighthouse through to the horizon of the Arabian Sea where at night you would see the lights of the fishing boats. The room was spacious and comfortable. With no lift you get plenty of exercise climbing and descending the stairs. The hotel has a number of restaurants close by and whilst always good to try the local scene the hotels restaurant is good, preferred lunch and dinner over breakfast.

My wife and I booked a 16 day tour of Kerala, ending with a relaxing five day beach break at Kovalam.
We were very disappointed with the hotel Neelakanta and the poor service we received there. Iris Holidays had booked us a deluxe room with a sea view. We were late arriving at the hotel because of a transport strike that day, but when we arrived in the evening we were told that our sea view room wasn't available. Instead we were given a room on the ground floor which is by far the worst room I have ever stayed in. Patio doors had inadequate locks, making us feel very insecure. The outlook was onto a dark, shady area, no natural light at all. The mattresses were thin and most uncomfortable, and we were kept awake most of the night by the noise from what sounded like an air conditioning unit outside our room.
I emailed a complaint to our tour agent, and they said they would sort out the problem. We wasted most of the next day with the reception staff, trying to get them to move us to a different room. I asked to speak to the manager and was told he would be coming to see us at 10am. He didn't show up. By early afternoon, we were finally taken upstairs to see an alternative room on the second floor. This was supposed to be the deluxe room. It was spacious, and it did have a sea view. But it was very basic and badly in need of clean decoration of the walls and ceiling. The shower room was a disgrace.
This hotel took the edge off what had otherwise been an excellent package provided by our tour agency. The hotel is very conveniently situated, overlooking the beach and the Arabian Sea, but it will remain in our memory for all the wrong reasons. At the end of our stay, we couldn't wait to get out of there, hopefully to never see it again. We will not be recommending the Neelakanta to our family and friends.

As name suggests, 'Neelakanta' is a hotel situated just on the beach of Arabian Sea and as anyone can imagine, the atmosphere here is simply magnificent. Sea-faced rooms are sufficiently large with sufficient furniture inside the room, a spacious toilet with proper fixtures and a small balcony. You can enjoy the roaring sea with it's changing color as well as mood throughout the day even sitting just inside the room. It seems to be in such a proximity that anyone can take lot of shots even not putting a single step on sands of Beach !!!
Falling asleep listening the music of Arabian Sea and also rising with it's sweet morning call, are indeed an incredible experience to relish throughout the life.
Having a good restaurant just in the first floor of this property who usually serve sumptuous food is also an advantage. Staff of this property are extremely helpful and cordial in nature.
Only black spot is, this property which is four-storied building does not have any lift and the staircase having a similarity of ancient era castles !! Climbing up and down four times a day through this staircase, would definitely burn out anyone's excess amount of fat and glucose level of a diabetic person !! Otherwise, it is a nice place to stay for at least three nights to enjoy the charm of of Arabian Sea in totality !!!

I have never seen or experienced such a worst hotel in my life. I was here for 2 nights 25th to 27th Jan'18. Firstly the staff are very rude and they dont even care if the customers are facing problems. This dirty view from the window. For attending a small TV complaint they took 3.5 hrs and 4 calls. Very limited staff. My advice to you all is not to go with this hotel and I bet, all the other hotels are definitely better than this.

Had an great experience to stay in this hotel as it as near to the beach and we have to just walk to go to the beach. And the other thing their services like good quality food, polite and quick responsive staff makes our stay very pleasant. Love the experience with this hotel.
