We chose Devra after lot of debating whether to stay in the heart of the city or stay some place which is away from the hustle and bustle of a city and given that we have a penchant for homestays over hotels, we settled for Devra. Yes it did help to go through all the positive reviews.
Devra is beautiful, rustic, charming and what a setting amidst the fields, hills, trees, birds and squirrels. We instantly fell in love with the place the moment we set foot. The rooms are spacious and very chastefully done. The bathroom spic and span and quite big. All you get to hear are the birds chirping. This is the kind of peace we were looking at. The breakfast setting is just perfect...out in the sun on a wintry morning with fresh air to breathe. Maj Das and Maam thank you so much for the brilliant hospitality. A special thanks to your staff and not to forget Olive and Lily who made it worth staying at Devra! I was even lucky to witness the aarti at the quaint mandir in the premises amidst the blowing of the conch and the beating of drums- a special puja that happens once in six months I was told. It was such a heady feeling...i feel blessed to gave witnessed it.
Now coming to certain suggestions we would like to make:
A) Do keep a tourist map of Udaipur and perhaps booklet on Rajasthan. It would be informative for tourists like us.
B) Some information on places to eat with your recommendations perhaps.
C) A small notepad and a pen or pencil.
D) A tree rack to hang the clothes. Yes there are plenty of hangers but personally i dont like to keep soiled clothes inside a cupboard. The tree shaped coat rack is very handy.
E) The dinner was simple tasty home cooked food but probably felt it was a tad bit expensive.
Overall Devra stole our hearts away...we found peace and fresh air and yet very near to the centre of the city. Definitely stay in Devra. It is worth the experience.

Had a wonderful stay at Devra - on arrival was greeted by Olive and Lilly the cheeky but lovely daschunds - fell in love with them. Your hosts, Durga and Jyoti, are so warm and lovely. Try and do a cooking demo with Jyoti, she loves to cook and the food is delicious, Durga will take you on a tour of the property - they have a dairy farm on site, with some cows - all the dairy product served are produced organically from the farm. The property is located about 20 minutes from the centre of Udaipur - so as far as I'm concerned it's the best of both worlds - explore Udaipur easily, but retreat at the end of the day, to peaceful and calm rural location.
Rooms are comfortable and spacious - beautiful views from the roof terraces - you can view the City Place on Lake Pichola in the distance and there is a lovely pool with views of the surrounding countryside.
If your idea of travel is to meet interesting people who will share their life stories with you then this is a great option for an Udaipur stay. All very reasonably priced too.

Well, where should I start from! The minute we entered this place, I knew its going to be fabulous. Everyone was so courteous and warm. The rooms are huge surrounded by an extraordinary view. The food was amazing too. I still can't believe that my 5 year old had his full meal on his own for the very first time. Not to forget Lily n Holly; we miss them the most. Jyotiji thank you so much for your wonderful care throughout our stay. I still miss the place!

Had a very nice stay here with family. Its a nice place to spend some quite time. Jyoti and her family were really sweet and helpful. The farm has dogs and tortoise. We had a good time with them too. Food prepared was really good. Umesh was very kind and helpful. Would have liked to have a tv in the room but it wasn't missed too much. Rooms are spacious and bathrooms nice. Thanks to the team.

This hotel is situated away from the town amidst really nice grounds.
The rooms are spacious and clean with lovely views. My room had its own balcony.
The family were friendly and very welcoming. We were even invited to their Divali celebrations which was wonderful for us to experience with such lovely people.
The staff were wonderful and we were very well looked after.
