Decent economy category hotel in a relatively peaceful location

Rooms in the upper floors are relatively bigger in size. Bath room and room are neat and clean. Ideally suited for business travellers. Reception area is congested. We have taken only breakfast here which is limited. There is an Udipi restaurant across the road which serves good south Indian food. Gariahat market area and Metro station are in walkable distance. I have stayed many a times in this hotel
Clean & well located

The hotel is situated close to the very busy Gariahat Market (one can walk it down in 25-30 minutes, but in Kolkata's hot & humid summer one does not feel like it). The rooms are spacious and very clean and so are the bedsheets, pillow covers & towels. But their blankets are filthy. When I complained, they put a sheet over & a sheet under the blanket to hide the filth. The bathrooms are clean, with everything working perfectly. Unfortunately the hotel does not have a dining space so one is forced to eat in the room. The room rent includes breakfast which is delicious. You have a choice of 5 or 6 dishes. In the 3 days that I was there, I ordered Continental, South Indian & North Indian dishes and all were very tasty.
The two drawbacks of the hotel:
1. There is no wi-fi worth the name even though on their website they claim to have it. If you are very lucky and sitting in the small reception area, you may get intermittent internet. Best to carry your own dongle.
2. The receptionist on duty during the day and evening, Mr Anuj Saha, is not helpful. He was not even willing to show me the menu card so that I could order dinner. I had to insist for him to give me one. Mr Arunabha Dasgupta, the receptionist who takes over for the other shift, is very cooperative and helpful.
The dinner fare (at least the daal and the roti) there can be given a miss, especially in view of the fact that there are good reasonable restaurants and streetfood nearby.
Good place for bachelors travelling for work- not a place for family or leisure trip's

We stayed here with family of 2+2 for a night (originally booked for 3 nights but we checked out after night 1). Room was big, clean - but we got two single beds which was tough to sleep on with the kids. The linens and towels are dirty so make sure you carry your own. The next morning, the water stopped coming in the taps - this was shocking as there were no resolution of the same for over an hour. Make sure the water bottles in the fridge are sealed if you planned to use- as in our case it appeared one of the previous guests had filled it up and put it back in to avoid the INR 25 charge. When I raised this with one of the guys - he stopped short of accusing me of lying. The rest of the staff were well behaved.
Economical hotel, service left a bad taste in the mouth though.

Good location. Rooms are also ok, comparing the price and location. But the room service, or rather the lack of it leaves a bad taste. Otherwise good for business travellers on a shoe string budget. Food is average at max. Breakfast is complimentary.
Nice place, good location!

This cosy hotel is in the heart of the city of Kolkata. It is cheaper than other hotels of its standard and good value for money. Staff is good, clean rooms and all facilities are better than the price you pay for it!
Also has an amazing banquet hall if you want to celebrate an occasion in the city.
