We went to Mandarmani with a gang from our office. It was a gang of 12 friends and colleagues. Dormitory room of Ganapati Palace was booked. We had asked the staff to get the room cleaned when we departed from Kolkata. It takes only 1 3 hours drive from Kolkata to the hotel.
Unexpectedly it was not done. Also we found that the hotel was going under renovation and so was our room. The floor was cut intentionally to divide the big room (12 bed) into two. When complained to the staff they were not in a mood to care!!
As we were very tired we didn't go for more argue, and accepted the irony.
Went to roam around the hotel and found it is spread on a good big plot. It had 6 cottages outside, a lwan and a swimming pool. Beach was also adjacent to it. The view was really good. We liked the natural side and decided to staty there only.
It has a restaurant also, but it was really costly. So we went outside for some economiacal food options.
Hotel staffs were not attentive and also they do not have any training/wish. to serve the customers.
Overall, the stay was not very good, but the location and the other amenities were there. so we stayed there.

we checked in this hotel with prior booking on 3rd Jan, 14 for a 2 night stay at their non ac rooms in the main building. Positives first: the rooms were big and spacious, staff courteous , games room had snnoker, carrom and table tennis, children park was neat and tidy with various swings and rides, food quality nice when compared to other hotels in mandarmani. Negatives now: swimming pool was not functional, staff could not arrange for basics like ice, extra towel for extra bed was not provided inspite of repeated plea (although the hotel was 80 percent empty), the beach area just in front of the hotel was stinking with fishes being stored there, flies were in abundance in rooms. The main beach is quite a far away from the hotel. in short, one can stay here if one is travelling in his own vehicle, in groups.

Hotel lounge and rooms are very nice and spacious. Very nice balcony with sea view. Most staffs are friendly. Dining area is very small compared to the lounge. Not enough chairs and tables. Bad planning, could have used some area from the lounge for the kitchen and dining area. Food was not good. All curries tasted the same! It seemed like the same gravy was used for fish, meat and egg curry.
Front of hotel was flooded after a rain. Needs to be cemented. A stray dog stays in the lounge all the time. Kitchen needs major clean up and needs visits from the food department. Cans and bottles are dumped outside the kitchen window and has created a nasty unhygienic environment. It seems the hotel is still under construction and can be turned into a very nice place with many improvements.

the trip till the hotel was fine but once we went inside the staff behaved as if they had purchased us and everyone bothers to disturb u and as for money for everything.
the food is pathetic/poor staff courtesy.
never ever stay there even if they pay you to stay.

172 KM away from Kolkata, Mandarmani on the beach of bay of Bengal may not be as tranquil and serene as it was few years back but still has the mesmerizing attraction and enough seclusion from the hassles and bustles of the city crowd to make your short weekend fill with enough peace and refresh and rejuvenate you for the corporate battle for the coming days.
Ganapati Palace situated most conveniently at the beginning of the beach and thereby a couple of KM away from the place where most of the known resorts located. This gives you the pleasure of being secluded, if seclusion is what you are looking for.
Hotel rooms are good and specially the cottages are ideal if you are visiting the place with a group of friends/ group of families. Cottages are like duplex. One room in each floor. So a group consist of 2 families can occupy the entire cottage . Rates are moderate and most importantly can be bargained during off season. They also have normal Hotel Rooms. Delux and Super Delux.
We have always visited the place in groups and had arranged for package stay i.e. room and food together. Food we found was good and at par with our taste. There is a lawn which needed to be maintained properly. Swimming pool is there and they take proper care also but we are responsible for making the pool unhygienic and dirty.
Don't miss the Delta where sea join hand with river and the locals call it Mohana. That is a place around 5 /6 KM away from your Ganapati Palace and the best place to observe Red Crabs and Sunset. A Boat cruisee (in a motorized Desi Boat) is not a bad option at all for entertainment. Now a days various water sports activities are also available in Mandarmani.
