I would like to share my bad experience regarding Hotel Heevan Pahalgam and Hotel Heevan Retreat Gulmarg.I, along with 3 other couple friends of ours had planned a trip to Kashmir.I had booked 4 dlx rooms from 13.9.16 to 15.9.16 in hotel heevan pahalgam and 15.9.16 to 17.9.16 in Heevan Retreat Gulmarg, and had deposited a substantial amount against advance payment.
Due to the tense situation and riots in Kashmir during that time, we had to cancel our trip, after which I have been consistently and regularly been corresponding with the management regarding my refund amount which clearly mentions the cancellation policy at the time of booking. So far I have sent them innumerable emails and upteem no.of phonecalls but they do not bother to reply.
I just wanted to write this, to safeguard interests of other tourists and travellers who might book this this property in good faith.
I am terribly distressed and anguished, as never expected this from a reputed hotel chain like this.
Sharing experience

Stayed & Booked 10 rooms during christmas week.
Good Location...Good Food....Good Service....Got good off season deal as we stayed in Heevan at all three locations i.e. Srinagar, Pahalgam & Gulmarg. Srinagar property is far better than Pahalgam & Gulmarg. We booked full package including all sightseeing which worked out quite well. Arbeena was very helpful... Thanks
During season its very overpriced.... so always google for better deals.
Some good, but, fairly short

I had reserved 2 rooms, double occupancy (i.e. 2 people per room), I was traveling with a friend and we each wanted our own rooms, and maybe the wives might want to join us. When we reached the hotel after a 4 hour drive, I asked they give us the rooms with a view of the river, and was told by the person checking me in that only double occupancy rooms had this view, to which I responded I did indeed have double occupancy rooms, I was asked to provide proof, and I had to provide a printout of the expedia reservation and they were forced to provide us rooms with a view. I asked for a manager and the guy said he was the manager. Obviously, they should know what rooms we had reserved, either they are inefficient or weasels. My rooms did not have a shower head, there was a bucket, and the wash basin faucet would not turn off unless pressed in. I finally called expedia and they upgraded me to a suite on the ground floor. There is no generator for the frequent power losses. The saving grace was the other staff, such as housekeeping and the people in the kitchen were extraordinarily good, they were very very nice and accommodating
Great location, excellent views but ageing facilities

Location : canât get better than this in Phalgam..... horse riding points right outside the hotel, River flows right next to the hotel, mountain ranges views are breathtaking
Building : the bathrooms needs serious upgrades as they feel like some scene from the lodges of the 90s, the carpets/wooden structures have all started smelling a bit ...
The heaters though are doing great job and so are the blanket warmers
Staff : the senior staff are seasoned and interact with guests with poise of a saint .... the junior ones are run of the mill
Food : good food .... donât expect some great shakes of a taste.... itâs simple and done well
Overall : the views from the room and the powerful heaters and warmers will just make you ignore issues in the property ..... and once you take the horse ride up the hills....... this property feels wow once u get back from the ride
