Extremely helpful manager

Location was great. Facilities were basic - would have preferred better hot-water provision in winter. Was good value for the money but wouldn't come here expecting the same standards as a higher-end place.
But highlight was the extremely helpful manager who was always willing to help with a cheerful can-do attitude. Thank you!

We have visited with my families, in hotel heritage inn. Our experience was very good. We satisfied with the hotel facilities and room service. Hotel staffs were very cooperative, friendly and helping.
Very accommodating staffs, great value of money, good location!

They've been so helpful to us since our first day in Amritsar. They helped us booked our train tickets and even allow us to use their personal phone in arranging our tours. The rooms are very economical.
If you want an affordable hotel, accommodating staffs and good location...booked at HOTEL HERITAGE INN!
We will definitely booked here again next time!
âHow we landed up at Hotel Heritage Innâ

This saga should be titled âHow we landed up at Hotel Heritage Innâ, (1234, Baba Attal Road, rear side of the Golden Temple, Amritsar 143001, Punjab).
This time round we decided to take the train, instead of driving down to Amritsar. So we booked our tickets on the morning Shatabdi from Delhi to Amritsar, arrived at the station well on time, took our seats, and the train departed on the dot at 7:20 am.
The Executive Chair Car, didnât quite match up to its name, and the frayed seat covers showed the wear and tear of ferrying a few thousand passengers to the holy city. The Indian Railways could consider improvements in the cushioning quality, which doesnât seem to have changed since my travels in Deluxe Trains in the 1960âs. The Shatabdi series of trains were supposed to be quantum leap in terms of comfort over the Deluxe trains, but the leap seems to have fallen short in practice.
That said, the Railways will keep you well fed till you reach Amritsar. The Shatabdiâs and Rajdhaniâs do fairly well on the culinary front all over India. The famous railway
omelette retains itâs texture and flavour since the 1960âs. Unfortunately the nomenclature doesnât do justice to the egg creation called an omelette. (In Indian parlance it becomes an âamlaytâ, which seems to fit in with the concoction served to you).
Also, to add to the flavour of the journey there will always be one passenger who will create a ruckus and throw his or her weight around for no rhyme or reason.
Back to our saga. We had originally booked a room at Hotel C J International, two days before the journey. Confirmed the booking the moment we left New Delhi station and once more as we crossed Ambala. The hotel confirmed that our room was ready to receive us.
Then around 30 minutes before our arrival at Amritsar, C J International calls to say, sorry but they would not be able to give us a room. Could they suggest an alternate, negative.
So located a few hotels on travel sites, called them, and Hotel Heritage Inn readily confirmed that they could give us a room, and gave us directions to reach there.
Itâs a plain vanilla hotel. Comfortable room, the mattresses had lost their springiness, the bedsheets were clean but frayed, the air conditioner worked, and most important they had a clean bathroom. You have to ring through to the Reception in case you want the geyser switched on.
They donât serve meals. The closest eatery is located about 50 metres away. Itâs called the Raj Darbar Hotel and Restaurant, and they were our hosts for lunch, dinner and breakfast. The food is fairly good, and is in the genre of sustenance rather than taste.
Their rooms, which we had a look at, seemed to be a cut above our current host. Maybe we shall stay there next time.
Youâll have to instruct the auto or taxi to get to them via the Sultanwind Gate, and it will deposit you on their doorstep. The beautification drive around the Golden Temple, doesnât seem to have taken into account, that people canât be expected to pick up or drag their luggage from the parking area to the hotels around the beautified area. The hotels at the rear score on this point.
Another point to be kept in mind, is that no hotel around the Golden Temple is run by professional hoteliers. Everyone got into the hostelry game, shopkeepers, publishers, et al, since they know there is an endless flow of visitors to the Golden Temple around the year. There is no effort to build up a regular clientele, since they know they may not see their âguestsâ again for a few months, a year, or few years.
Keep the saga of Hotel Heritage Inn in mind when things don't quite work out on your first or next visit to Amritsar.
Poorly maintained hotel, Better to avoid with Family

Rooms are small, not cleaned, human hair found on bed sheet. They have changed the bed sheet but of same uncleaned one. No intercom, no hot water in early morning, no restaurant, Pigeon cooing and peeping through broken Ac vent. Only advantage that it is close to Swarna mandir and staffs are well behaved. Though you will find a lot of good hotels near swarna mandir.
