Janak Niwas Paying Guest House is well designed and located on the top of a hill which is very peaceful & pollution free. It fronts onto near City Palace & Jagdish Temple and is directly opposite the magnificent shoreline of Old City Market. It is comfortable, clean and elegant. Although the Janak Niwas rooms have been modernised they still keep traditional features that characterise Rajasthani Looking. Janak Niwas captures all the romance and splendour of a royal era.

This hotel has a homely feel. Everything is nice and clean and I felt safe and secure.
It is centrally located and has a wonderful view on the rooftop.
The hotel wouldn't be suitable for people with limited mobility. It is located in a side street which is not accessible by car and there is no lift, only stairs.
Breakfast options are limited but tasty.
Overall, I would recommend this place. Good value for money

We stayed here for about a week. It was a great experience all around, the staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome at all times without ever being intrusive, it was clean and well taken care of, it is very affordable, and it is located within walking distance of pretty much anywhere you would might want to go in Udaipur.
On top of that, they have a great rooftop with a kitchen that lets you get breakfast (and/or dinner) each day, very easily. It's a great way to start (or end) your days when in town.
The streets around this area of town are definitely lively rather than quiet, but I wouldn't say this is a bad thing, and it didn't bother either me or my partner during our stay. I don't have any complaints at all, and I would definitely recommend staying here.

Excellent value for the money!
Keep in mind: during the day and evening the rooms can be a bit noisy from the street and it doesn't seem that there is much in the way of hot water.
But! At night the rooms are cool and quiet. The beds are comfy. The bathrooms, rooms, towels, and linens are all very clean. The WiFi connection is strong and consistent. It is located in a great part of the city and everything you'd want to reach is within a short walking distance.
The staff are all very friendly and the rooftop restaurant is also clean and very charming. They serve a great breakfast and a pretty decent dinner, all for a very affordable price.
Highly recommended budget hotel for the frugal traveler! Will stay here again if we ever return to Udaipur.

Very clean space, lovely and super helpfull manager and staff! Cozy beds, color full decoration, peaceful space. Awesome food offered by the resto on the roof top! WiFi works properly.
Nice art gallery, the miniature paintings done by an artist collective are simply a genuine indian amazing art!
Would definitively come back!

Great & lovely exp we have with janak niwas I will suggest to stay at this hotel if are looking for budget and clean hotel, the stuff are excellent the owner shiv and his brother are nice person and very helpful ,all the points are in walkable distance . As per my exp the people in udaipur are very good loyal I had an opportunity to mixed with local and everybody try to help us I am very great full to visit udaipur and will visit again 4 days will be enough for udaipur , one day for local city place ,Sajjan Garh(eve) karni Mata temple and obviously baghor ki haveli evening show it is excellent Sanju (shiv Bahi âs brother one of the member of organiser donât miss . And go for Kumbhalgarh and Ranakpur temple 1st Kumbhalgarh and came back to Ranakpur and take the lunch in that temple itâs good overall my exp is great in udaipur over Jaipur. As per my exp you can trust udaipur people but do not trust any person in jaipur . Please open your eyes and ear when you travel jaipur and compare each and everything otherwise you will be loser any moment like Delhi
