What People are saying
Fine

This place is just fine, not particularly good but not particularly bad. The location cannot be beaten, 5 minutes walk from the Senso-ji temple and lots of bars and restaurants, with an epic view of the Skytree 10 seconds outside the main entrance. There is a (beaten and run-down) common area with a large TV, board games and free coffee. The wifi is good and works in the dorms and common room. There is no atmosphere whatsoever, so it's hard to meet people.
The capsule dorms are dingy but not dirty, with security lockers and acceptable air-conditioning. The capsules themselves are large with privacy curtains. In terms of comfort, they are lacking - a good night's sleep was difficult to have on the hard beds, plus the "top bunks" are difficult to clamber into; the ladders are old and small and the capsules have a weird "lower lip" which hurts your shins as you get into them, unless you're a contortionist. Guests can (and do!) smoke in the hall just outside one of the dorms, which I found disgusting!
The staff are cordial and polite, a family I believe. Not hugely friendly or helpful though, and they don't speak much English. One staff member is a much older lady in her 80s, she seems to spend her time wandering around and bugging the guests... within one hour she came to complain to me about the way I was lying on the (very old and stained) common room banquettes instead of sitting, the way I'd closed the coffee jar, and the fact I had my wallet on the table. She is sweet, but customer service shouldn't include being nagged by a "surrogate grandmother"... There are also very anal, rigid rules - once checked out, you cannot access anything within the building, even the toilets, and they won't hold your luggage for you. There are signs everywhere reminding you of this.
The bathrooms were maintained and kept nice and clean, however 2 of the 3 toilets are Japanese squat toilets. There is also only one private shower, unless you want to use the communal shower room. Very authentic, but not to most tourist's taste.
One final bizarre twist is that someone stole from the dorm my (old and half-broken) electric toothbrush along with the charger and one (but not both?!) of the plug adaptors attached to it... this place clearly attracts some weirdos!
If you're here as a tourist I'd say go elsewhere, and have a more comfortable pleasant experience. This place is good for budget backpackers and newly arrived residents who just need a base while they flat-hunt, which is what I was doing.
Not the worst, and great as it's one of the cheapest places in Tokyo, but there are hundreds of better places.
Great Location; Average Accommodations

This capsule hotel is right where you come out of the Asakusa Metro Station, which connects to all the major subway lines. With just a short walk away from the main Asakusa district, you can't beat the location. The accommodations themselves are a bit older and smelled a little bad. But if you just want a place to sleep in a great location, then Hotel Kawase is a good deal.
Old and ugly but pretty comfy capsule and decent price

For the money it's pretty worth it. Location is good although pretty far from Shibuya and Shinjuku if you plan to explore those areas by night.
The bed was actually the most comfy from all the hostels I've stayed in Tokyo and pretty spacious. That's the most important thing for me. Other than that it was your average budget old and ugly hotel. But since I value comfort over everything else, it was pretty good for me.
Only the essentials

I've been there for more than 10 days. They have the minimum to be established and some small luxuries. The bathrooms are clean, has cheap washing and drying machines and also a living room with cable television.
Good location and cheap, but not much else

Close to the train station and one of the cheaper places to stay in tokyo, but cramped. Staff were nice enough but it definitely wasn't anything I'd recommend. Good for exploring the eastern side of Tokyo but I'd try k's house before this one.
